Random Rants

I've always felt it was a pain in the arse to use Phtobucket and couldn't understand why people still went for it. There were always better, faster and more reliable options out there. The best option is when the forum hosts its own images so it's not dependent on other sites - like it does now.

photobucket has been an ease to use ever since i've been using it since 2010/2011. the only thing of recent times that has been bothering me is the ads and slower user interface. for me, when something i use is going well, i would not bother to change my routine.
they also have an iphone app that makes it even more easier to use as i can upload straight from my phone and link it from the website on my computer. all the photos i take bypass my phone too (6D, Drift 4k). i know back in the day, they used to disable the 3rd party hosting after you get X amount of views which sounds fair, but holding you hostage right now by only allowing people to pay seems a tad too much..

Alternatives (apart from the super duper very amazing - but only any use on this forum Iron Heart Image Uploader)…

Couldn't agree more

I suspected 5-10% of people will pay photobucket and they'll make a ton of cash from it as a result…

Reminds me of a story:
A man walks down the street and sees a fruit stand selling apples for $50 a piece. The man says "At $50, you're not going to sell many apples!"
The owner of the stand looks up and smiles at him "At $50 an apple, I won't have to!"

The G20 summit happens 1km away from my home and I'm already fed up with hundres of policemen securing/blocking the streets, helicopters flying day and night and protesters calling to arms. Why can't they do it on a secured Military base instead of going to a Metropole that's known for having a huge ultra leftwing scene?

Because clearing foreign nationals from all around the world to access a military base is far more of a headache than one could imagine…
BUT, I feel what you're saying!
-
Yeah, probably. I'd be happy with any kind of quiet area, but Holding the summit literally in the most leftwing quarter of a City is just plain stupid.

while this sucks big time on many levels, no political discussions in here, our rules…
Come on man that isn't a political discussion

I'd like to preface this rant by saying I have nothing against panhandlers. I know a lot suffer from mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse, bad luck, etc.
Anyway, I get off an exit ramp and see the same old timer i've seen for the last 6 months. He has a sign that says something about having been in a coma and also being 3 months sober. He spots me smoking a cig and asks for a couple, to which I oblige. He then asks me what kind they are and I tell him American Spirits. I make my own with AS tobacco so when he looked at the cigarette and didn't see the AS logo stamped in the side he assumed I was lying and tossed them back to me about them not being American Spirits. My response was, "oh, so you're being picky now?" He then apologizes and points to a scar on his head and mentioned being 3 months sober, even though he's been panhandling the same corner with the same sign for 6 months. That was a true wtf moment for me.

Wow. FUCK Photobucket. $400 per year or $40 bucks a month to enable third party hosting. The time it would take me to go through all my pics on Superfuture and this site, download them from Photobucket, and then repost them here with the new upload feature… I don't even want to think about it. Fuck.

Plenty of other free hosting sites out there

I stop for fuel at a Shell garage, I'm sitting om my bike with the nozzle in the tank, waiting for the attendant to switch it on when over the tannoy "can you get off your bike please"
And I'm thinking, why? anyway I do.
I go in to pay and ask him what that's all about. 'Shell like bikers to dismount'
Me; I've been biking for forty years and have never been asked to get off to fuel.
jobsworth; I've been biking for forty years and I always get off. Do you drive a car?
Me; Yes
Bellend; Well your'e not a proper biker then.
Me; So youv'e been biking for forty years and youv'e never sat on your bike to fuel?
Knobjockey; Yep.
Me; Well your'e not a proper biker then are you, anyway what colour's the sky in your world?
Prick; Silence….I mean WTF with the attitude, I work in healthcare and spend all day every day being courteous and polite to people, it annoys the fuck out of me when I come across dick heads like this, for all he knew I could have been around the fucking world on my bike. Prick.
