Watches - another OCD problem

Yes, indeed, they sure do love their bling! Must run in the family…
And @Giles, you're right… didn't even notice the dates! haha
About the hair arms... what can I say, we're Persian

I got to look at a couple of watches in London, because that's one of my hobbies.
This is the Omega Railmaster limited edition. It's a lovely piece, and I've spent the last day or two thinking that I should have bought it.
It's in an @Anesthetist friendly 38mm case, and comes with a couple of straps as well as the bracelet. Despite the retro looks, it's got the latest Master Chronometer co-axial movement. However, it felt a bit unbalanced, the Ploprof seems to sit on my wrist better.
The other watch was an LUC 8HF Power Control.
The watch is from the second run of the 8HF, and was part of a limited edition of 250 that launched in 2014. It's movement runs at 8 Hz, whereas most watches run at 3 to 4 Hz, which should make it more accurate. It also has a crazy ticking sound when it's running too.
The Chopard boutique has emailed me a couple of times over the last year or two about this. Unfortunately, at £15K, or three times the Railmaster, it's probably not going to happen.
Chopard also offer the Superfast Power Control Porsche 919, which retails for a slightly more wallet friendly £12K, has an 8 Hz movement, and is an edition of 100.
I found one in Harrods, unfortunately my phone had run out of charge at that point, so you'll have to make do with one of Chopard's.
If you're into high beat movements, the previous champion was the Breguet 7727, which runs at 10 Hz, and has a trick magnetic pivot for the balance wheel. However, Zenith have just unveiled the Defy Lab, which runs at 15 Hz! :o
I mentioned that higher frequencies improve accuracy, and the Defy Lab will be within 0.3 to 0.5 seconds per day. That's on the order of a cheap quartz watch.
It's also antimagnetic, certified as a chronometer by the Besançon Observatory, has a radical, silicon movement, and an Aerolith aluminium case. RRP is around CHF 30K, but the limited edition of ten has already sold out. @Tempvs has probably got one.
More at Hodinkee, aBlogToWatch, and Monochrome.

Beautiful, but Omega pricing is getting less palatable every year.

the ap is definitely one of my favs. although without the diamonds and not in gold..

I think that the value of an Omega watch depends on the model.
The Railmaster is £5,000, whereas the Rolex Air-King is £4500. The Omega is a limited edition and comes with a couple of straps, so there might be some justification for spending a bit more.
But the Ploprof is £9000. I'm not sure what a Submariner costs, but it's probably a fair bit less. That's harder to swallow, even though it's the most awesome dive watch ever.

Call me a nerd (which I am), but I think I need this watch in my life in the near future.

here's some stuff for you guys to drool over…

I have a new respect for G-Shock after wearing it for a few weeks now. I don't have to take off the watch no matter what kind of stupid shit I'm doing, and I've been setting the audible alarms two minutes before meetings to remind me to quit screwing around (or to let employees know I gotta go, I have a meeting).
On top of that, it's light, supremely accurate with the atomic sync, and won't need a service in the next decade due to the solar charging.
Definitely worth the additional functionality for me at the expense of the romance associated with a mechanical watch.
I won't sell my mechanical watches, but deep down, I'm a function over form kind of guy.

C'mon, you know you want to give me that Seamaster Professional…

Seiko recently opened a boutique in Melbourne, and I stumbled across it today. I was rather taken by this quartz model, with a gorgeous blue-green dial.
They'd actually got a Credor Eichi II in a few weeks back for a customer. It'd already gone out, unfortunately.

This is my everyday watch. ICERC GShock. Something about “love the sea and the earth.” And saving the whales. I’m all for that
