IH-888-NT - 21/23oz indigo Selvedge DWC Jeans
-
Actually, I have had mine on for a few hours and they feel quite soft. This isn't the same Ultra Heavy Raw denim as before. It's way darker, less abrasive, and has a softer hand out of the gate. I'm partial to the 21 oz and 25 oz sanforized IH denim. But this is quite nice. This pair is quite perfect. If you could imagine the regular "flagship" 21 oz IH denim- without all the voodoo they do it, it's a lot like that.

I have been thinking the same. Had mine on all day and they are easy to button up now and feel pretty dam comfy. Is it different UHR @giles ?

I’m curious how much rear rise shrinkage you guys have been getting? I have no ass and would live an inch shrinkage… but that’s ambitious.

I don’t have huge amounts of leg skew either. Dunno if more will come with a warm wash or not.

It's made from the same warp and weft as the original UHR, but woven on a different loom. What I can't remember is whether it's woven in the original factory or a new one….
Will be interesting to see if this gives up the indigo so easily

I personally don't see a huge difference at all in the fit between these and the 888-S in my tag size 34, which is a good thing for me. After all the projected shrink is out on a size 34 on these they will be nearly identical to my measurements on my 888-S.
Edit: this is based on measuring my existing 888-S and comparing those measurements to the fit guide on these and factoring in projected shrinkage.

As far as I know leg twist will usually only come with a left hand twill fabric but I could be wrong.
Looking great everyone.

If we ended up with this because the old UHR loom broke: that's what I'd call a happy accident!

You are wrong…..

Indeed. Thanks for the info.

All I know is the size 32 in the 888S I tried on were skin tight on my thighs these size 32’s are no where near. Ok they might tighten up a little but I can’t see them getting anywhere near the 888S

So I did some research and I see that shrink tests show nearly an inch loss in back rise. That’s good news.

Agreed, I’m hoping for something in the range of 3/4” to 1” of rear rise shrinkage. My pair won’t be here until midweek so in the meantime I’m rubbernecking everyone else’s right now…

Boo. This is not good news, it is bad news, my small-arsed friend.

In 36" waist jeans, 17" rear rise and 14" thigh (min, and this is post-shrink) are where it's at for those with big muscular legs and arse. By the time an alternative to the 1955S come out I probably won't be this big or strong anymore.
(P.S. I'm wearing the 1955S right this very minute, but after 21 months the crotch is ready to blow. To give the 1955S their dues, I've never got this many wears out of a single pair of jeans as an adult. These days if I buy shorts I can expect to have annihilated the crotch before I've even washed them twice.
And yes, I've stretched out the rise and thigh beyond 17" and 14" at this point, in the 1955S!

Hopefully I can get a bit more shrink out of the knee and leg opening. It only gave me ~.3” after a 40 minute hot soak and 3 hour cold soak while I was at work.
Agitation is your best bet for getting all the shrinkage out, so give them a gentle wash. Although a third of an inch from narrow horizontal measurements sounds about right tbh
I figured I was pretty close to the max shrinkage. I’ll throw them into another bath once they get back from hemming.
