^^^^^ Outside whenever possible. A patch sewn on all four sides is never preferred. Why design a rad patch if you're just going to have to hide it behind a belt?
-
@BloodnThunder ..well in my case I want to hide the 40" waist label… i sized up to compensate for the loom-state fabric and shrinkage, although it turns out i really didn't need to. two pretty hot washes and tumble drys have brought things in to a manageable fit but still a bit loose.

This. I love the denim and cut on my 634S-18 but the sewn down patch drives me nuts.

Definitely inside. IMO

Ha! I suppose thats a pretty good reason. Although you being the mountain of a man you are I doubt you'd ever hear anything about it from passers by.

Inside of course but sometimes when in a hurry…...

Q: Does anyone have any experience with the Buzz Rickson M-43 Service Boots? I'm referring to their take on the Steve McQueen "The Great Escape" boots. I'm curious as to thoughts on fit, level of comfort, etc.
Any thoughts/impressions are greatly appreciated!
FWIW, I'm a belt on the outside of the patch guy too…

@Qinhan, I had a pair for a while, I really liked them. the fit/sizing was a bit tricky, they're built on the Munson last so the toe box is pretty wide, and in fact I fit in to a 9.5 instead of my normal 10.5. I would recommend sizing down 1/2 size at least.
The fit in general was comfortable, I would compare thefitlevel of comfort to Viberg service boots. Here’s a pic of mine when I decided to sell them, I made the “mistake” of dubbing them and I didn’t like the result. I wish I would have kept them natural.

No experience personally but I know Standard & Strange also recommends sizing down 1/2 size from Red Wing size.
-
Cheers @Boyo That’s really helpful. So basically size the same as 2030 last Viberg service boots or are you saying another size down from that? I’m an 8 in Viberg which is about one size down from my regular sneaker size.
These boots are marked E width which I guess by Japanese standards is reasonably wide, as you noted.
Nicely beaten up pair you have there, even with the extra dubbing.

Oh? I didn’t realise standard and strange stocked these. You’re not thinking of the John Lofgren m43 boots are you?
-
Actually @Qinhan, I think you should size down from your Viberg 2030 size at least a 1/2 size. I wear a 10.5 in viberg 2030, and I fit in the Buzz 9.5 ( a 10 might have been better, but I never tried that on)
price aside.. I think the lofgren version would be my pick

What's up everyone. I'm a long time lurker and have finally decided to pop my IH cherry, as such í decided to also finally make an account on the forum.
I'm mainly interested in the 777 based on the measurements, one measurement gives me pause, which is the back rise. Can anyone speak to their experiences with this cut and whether the back rise has been ok for them or if the crack is on constant display? I've searched everywhere and cannot find too much info on this for whatever reason. Most of my pants are 14-15 in back rise, where the 777 back rise is 13 in my size (31). Any insight anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!

It sits low but at least on me not as low that it shows parts of my lower back no one wants to see, but I think that really depends on your body shape, I am wearing 31 too.
