Eyeglasses / Sunglasses Discussion

To be fair, that’s with lenses… but they claim 450-625 on most frames alone and 225 for lenses.
I should clarify that this is at “the” upscale eyewear place in town.. so they may be gouging a bit

I do think its an interesting conversation overall of what is the price ceiling for improving the quality of an item. And sometimes its hard to say.
What makes a $625 frame more quality than something in the $300-$400 range….I think with some of these frames, as you mentioned, it is the idea of a "premium" item or "chic-ness" if you will that accounts for the cost.
Fairly similar to what Luxoittca has done with Ray Bay...although I do love me some Ray Ban

Picked these up on Maui, naturally. Hawai‘i only release. Best polarized lense I’ve had.

Which frame is it?
I’m torn between one of the Statesman series and maybe something full frame but thinner than my Fords - I honestly have to go get fitted and see what looks best with the sizes the styles are made it.
Then in the flip side, part of me wants to go full @graeme and get some ultra chunky frames lol
I am, if not anything else, completely indecisive.

@louisbosco it might be worth dropping Henderson's an email, and ask if they carry Hakusan. They've got a number of Japanese brands, so I might be getting confused. Otherwise I'll try to remember next time I'm in town.
@Appfaff shopping for frames is always a slow process. I ended up with the clunky Kuboraums because I liked that style, next time it'll be something quite different.
I did see a lovely Dita frame, which was thin, black acetate cast around a gold titanium skeleton. They looked like a more delicate version of something that Moscot might produce. I'm quite tempted by those for my next pair, but they might work for you too. I'll grab a photo when I'm in Henderson's next, hassling them for Louis.

I believe we might be thinking of the same frame @Graeme lol
-
@Graeme - those are very nice indeed. I feel if I drop the coin on DITAs, they need those have those metal dots on the front lol

Exposed screw backs are like exposed selvedge seams, right?

@Appfaff I was wrong, the model I like is the Dita Insider-Two. This pair has the clear frame, which I prefer to the ones I saw in black / clear, and has exposed
selvedgescrews. -
Those are so cool [emoji41]

Frame prices are ridiculous.
Though yours are wicked @Graeme.
And I like me some Rays too. -
I am sure that I would a complete twat in these, but I am super intrigued…..
-
@steelworker if prices are bad where you are, you should see what they're like in Australia! :o
@Giles you're leaving yourself open to comments about your appearance in general there.
I'm probably not the best person to make suggestions about which spectacles to go for, as my guideline is choose the craziest pair that suits you. But I think that with something like the Dita Brixa, you'd have to see how they sit on your face, and then just roll with the look if it's workable. I felt as though my Kuboraum pair were wearing me for the first few weeks I had them.

F that Giles. You Do what you want!
Edited for vulgarity

I quite like those - I love rounded frames, but being as my face is somewhat Round, they exacerbate my appearance (in a bad way), so I stick to more square and rectangular frames.

Had a brief flirtation with Tart Optical inbetween (actually wearing a pair of Arnell 55 today...
