These are my next pr. My 666XHSs are no longer a viable option.

@cbnewman
I got my pronto double indigo 25oz tapered by rail car knee and below and it worked greet . I also reduce the leg opening and the job well done by rail car .
XHS doesn’t react at all. It looks all natural like it was tailored tapered by iron heartSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That’s awesome. Do you know about how much you tapered the leg opening? I’m thinking as much as 1 1/2” maybe 2” but worried that will be too much

Pro tip: Look at the tapered IH cuts (555, 777, 888, 633) to see which one you like and note the measurements at thigh, knee and hem. Measure the actual thigh on your pair and extrapolate from there. The last bit is important because you don't want to take a 634 thigh down to a 555 hem. That would give you a carrot cut. I'd recommend using the 888 as a starting point as this cut is based on the 634.

I always liked the measurements here, but was put off by the very large leg opening (waist 36) and need to taper. I'd rather not have to screw around with jeans straight off the bat, but that might be what I do if I buy these next. I have the 888 UHRs now, so time to eye up the next thing

I’m crossing my fingers for 888-XHS one day.
Just get these and taper? There's not that much difference. These have a tad less front rise but in my size they are otherwise the same…

Great idea. I was going to base the taper off of two pairs of 3sixteens I have. Probably safer to base my measurements on existing IH cuts
I can’t afford any taper through the thighs however; 13” is a minimum as it turns out. Have a pair that measures at 12.5 and the crotch is blowing out because they bind

I’m not a fan of dicking around too much with my gear and there are plenty of options for me in the meantime. But 888-XHS would be a dream cut/denim combination. I’m happy to wait until it happens.
I'd go for a pair of 25oz XHS 888s too. If not the pair in my concept with the slash pockets and felled seams, and no yoke, just a regular pair would be great too.

@cbnewman I had my 634-XHS size 33, that I posted a couple pages back, tapered by RCFG to an 8.25" leg opening. Started the taper at their standard length from crotch to knee of 13", left the original knee width. I'm very pleased with the results.

@mpukas I like the sound of that. My tag is 34 and the leg opening sounds like just what I'm looking for. I'd love to see some fit pics if you have the time/inclination

@cbnewman here are some fit pics. First pic is from June 2015, at the start of the DWC, along with the IHSH-33, when new and tapered; pics 2 and 3 are after a few months wear; last pics are from Feb 2018, after 18+ months wear, 20+ washes. I retired them around about Feb/March 2017 because they were too tight, restrictive and uncomfortable, but still my favorite pair. You can see from the progression that the denim does shrink even though it's sanforized. You should consider this this, and whether to wash them a couple of times, or not, before tapering.
Also, when RCFG tapered them, my order was to hem to 34" inseam. Somehow, they missed that and only tapered them. The first pics with cuffs the jeans are about 35.5-36.0" inseam, and were way too long. After about 4 months I realized they hadn't been hemmed, and I sent them back to RCFG to have them hemmed to 34.0" inseam. 34 was still a bit long, but I wanted to get some Madd Stak Fadz.
