Welcome to the forum @Redcar123 @Juliedang and @cosmic55 !!

Hi there !
I'm lurking and reading for a while on here now and I just thought I could introduce myself !
My name is Kevin, 28 yo, father of a 2yo girl. I live in far west germany, got a 20 minute bike ride to the Netherlands, which is super nice.
I'm into iron heart for just half a year maybe . I was looking out for some quality clothing after spending so much money for poor quality stuff and was so tired of this. Yeah that's how I found out about iron heart and some other hq brands .
Right now I own 2 pair of jeans (555 and a 634) and a 777 on the way. Five shirts so far and many on the to-buy-list. Think I'll be broke soon if this keeps going . It really is addicting. I almost don't want to wear anything else anymore. That's it so far. Cheers and have a nice day !

Yes it is and I pretty much don’t [emoji1]
Thanks for the nice intro. -
Hello everyone! My name is Denim Jane, I am from China, I like iron heart very much. I currently own iron heart products IH-526PJ, IH-526SV, IH-526V-XHS and IHSH-178, which are purchased in Japan official website and UK. The official website, since passing through the iron heart, it is difficult to accept clothes from other brands. I think I am not far from bankruptcy. I am very happy to meet everyone.

Welcome to the forum @Denim Jane . Good to have you here. That’s a very nice collection you have!
IH can become an addiction for sure, and I think buying clothes isn’t the same after you get the IH habit.
Looking forward to hearing more from you here. If you have any questions please do ask.

I've never been the tweedy sort of University Professor but now that I'm near-grandfather age I can dress the way I really want. Then I found Iron Heart. What took me so long? I'm replacing my old wardrobe, giving away most of it, going to the office in denim, flannels, and IH from now on. I teach Hinduism, Buddhism, and south Asian languages (like Sanskrit and Tamil) but the occasional seminar in Zen. Iron Heart is my zen seminar now yo. Thanks for having me.
-
Welcome @profdbrk, or should that be gassho ;). Interesting background, am sure you'll elevate some of our conversations. Enjoy your stay and look forward to reading more from you. I'm a Zen Buddhist myself having resided in various monasteries in my earlier years. Not a monk by any means, just my world view/way of life. I do hope to eventually retire and live out my days as a monk after repaying my contributions to society.

What’s up everybody, I’m new to the forum but not to Iron Heart. I’ve been enjoying quality denim for several years now and decided to finally join this fine group. I live in the U.S where it’s hot in the summer and the winters are very mild and I still rock out the 25oz. year rd. My favorite denim at the moment is the 18oz vintage, it’s superb. I’m a machinist and I also ride motorcycles so my iron heart gear gets plenty of use, it’s amazing how well it holds up. Well anyways I hope I can contribute to this forum and possibly spark someone else’s passion/obsession!

Welcome and thanks for the very nice intro. Looking forward to seeing how messed up your gear is, not least the vintage style 18oz which is great stuff, I agree.

Hello all:
My name is William. I live in Los Angeles with my wife and daughter. Originally, I was drawn to Iron Heart because of their IHxPxT1. After I got that jacket, it sent me into a full-blown spiral! I had to get more IH gear. After getting some of the essentials, I am now looking to replace some of my collection of shirts/jackets with IH gear. Thought the forum would be the best place to learn what products everyone likes. Anyway, I love it here so far. Thank you for having me.

Hi there William. Thanks for the introduction. I’ve seen you on the shirt threads and it’s great to see you mining the classic shirts from the get go. Very good call in my opinion. Lovely to see you contributing content already. You’re very welcome here.
-
Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm trying to bust through the ones on the 21 promo code. Not only is that a nice bouns but it seems like those are the classics. I have ventured outside the 21 shirts, though. I got the IHSH-177 and 189. Both were awesome. Any suggestions would be appreciated, especially when it comes to the flannels. Going through the posts, it seems like you are very knowledgeable.

Going through the posts, it seems like you are total nerd.
There you go, fixed that for you [emoji6]
When I got into this about 4-5 years ago, the only core product I initially picked up was the IHSH-68-IND. Only recently have I scored an IHSH-33 iteration and I’m yet to pick up an IHSH-13 or 21. The hindrances being that I get seduced by seasonal products and I need to collect more vests than I can ever hope to rotate effectively. So by nailing down the classics you’re doing great work on your wardrobe and giving yourself room for seasonal fun later. I wish I’d worked that out sooner.
If you’re thinking about UHF’s then fabric-wise they are essentially the same. The hand of the material may take on a slightly different quality depending on the dye used and the cuts may vary slightly between model numbers but at the end of the day it’s the colourway and pattern that make the difference and that is a matter of personal taste.
I guess the buffalo checks became the quintessential IH UHF pattern around about the IHSH-72. It stayed that way for a few years but now Haraki-san, Giles and Alex are trying new patterns or revisiting and updating some hall of famers. I had my time as a UHF junkie but I now try to exercise control. They get people like that though, due to the insane quality of the fabric. There are guys who buy one of each, regardless.
All that being said, I don’t know how much use you’ll get for them in L.A.
Did you pull the trigger on any wabash? That is my favourite fabric of them all I think.
-
Haha. I would not say that. If I did, you could call us all nerds for loving denim this much.
Thanks for the suggestion on the flannel. I was thinking about the IHSH-179. I would never be able to wear any of the UHF ones here. Well, not never. Not enough for me to buy one. I am looking for flannels that are more of the lightweight variety. I was able to get a used IHSH-193, so I'll see if I will pursue more in the future. I do want a UHF based on your post, but I don't know if my situation demands it.
As for the Wabash, I did not get it. I wasn't able to get one in my size. Since XL is the only one sold out, it seems like I will have to wait, too. That time, I got the IHSH-33B instead. Ever since I bought an overdyed product, I cannot seem to say no. That's my new favorite, I think. I'd love to see a workshirt version. Maybe it has been done, though. Anyway, I'll get the Wabash sooner or later. I am not to worried as it seems to be a staple.
-
Heya William, welcome! And I mean that sincerely since you're not my size and we won't be competing for IH drops
As a fellow part-time LA-dweller myself, I find that I can get away with the UHFs over a t-shirt pretty regularly. Now, I wouldn't want to wear one if I was out in the sun all day, but they're light enough that I find that it heats me up as much as medium-weight hoodie. And my office always has the AC on, anyway.
-
Nice. Good to know. I guess my other reservation is that I never seem to wear those type of "shirt jackets" in the past. The heavy flannels I have had always seemed out of sync with LA. Maybe I just got the wrong type (i.e. not Iron Heart.) in the past.
-
Yeah, that's true, you don't see a lot of flannels around here anymore. It's all hyper short pants and really baggy shirts. I'm okay with not being a part of that fad
That's one of the reasons I invest in IH stuff. The style is classic. In 10 years, people won't be wearing pants 2" above their shoes, but a denim jacket type III jacket will still be practical and look good.
-
Totally. That's another thing I need–some Iron Heart Type 3s. I got rid of all mine. I went through a phase where I only bought type 1 & 2 and sold all my type 3s because they were too modern. At least that allows me to get some IH ones without feeling guilty. Also, LA side note, have you noticed that many people dress ironically here? I am a college professor (please don't judge me because of any typos), and all of my young students seem to dress in purposefully horrible clothing. It's like living in an Urban Outfitters. I had a student wear a Space Jam tee. Space Jam. SPACE JAM. It came out before he was born. I mean, it's a modern classic, but still...
-
Haha, yes, urban-outfit all of the things The fashion seems to be to spend big money on stuff that looks like it came out of the trash. And over-sized grandpa sneakers. I won't judge. I wore awful baggy pants in my youth
If you're looking at the type IIIs, I always recommend the 2526J. That brown duck is gorgeous! And goes so well with blue jeans.
If you don't mind sharing, what do you teach? And where?
