IH-533 - Fleece Lined 21oz Indigo Selvage Denim Modified Type III Jacket
-
Great score, and such a good fit. The IH jeans jackets are second to none, no matter what the style.

That is an excellent fit on you. I am super glad that it went to someone who will use it!

If I remember correctly, it did not sell well, so it's unlikely to be made again.

I think this jacket looks great personally. The lining seems unnecessary though, especially if you’re wearing a uhf underneath

I think this jacket loThe lining seems unnecessary though…
That’s one of the things I appreciate the most, practically speaking. It gives the jacket a greater range of wear time on an annual basis.

I could likely get the same amount of wear with a uhf. My point is the lining would be a pain to clean. It would also reduce the cost if it didn’t have the lining imo.

I’ll add that he lining also means I can use it with just a tee or with a heavy shirt and it’s good from 1C to 15C. Warmer than than I use standard type III’s just with a tee.
The point being the cord collar on an indigo type III is a small detail for me. The whole idea of the piece is that it is has a fleece lining in the body and lined arms so it isn’t just another light jacket.

We are doing a Storm Rider…...

Sadly, the Storm Rider isn’t my cuppa tea. Don’t know if it’s the shape of the chest pockets or the length but I prefer IH’s modified type III’s

To me, that's every bit as good as the upcoming Storm Rider, yet it got very little love. Equally, the 101J wasn't a great hit in comparison to the 526s, yet lots of people can't wait for the Storm Rider. Colour me confused ???

I think there was a lot of excitement for this but studying the thread and the extinct section, there was a lot of consternation regarding measurements (it is atypical, being overly long in the body but slim horizontally) and it had competition for peoples money. Being lucky enough to own one, despite it not having the best fit for me, it serves as an example of how the right measurements aren't decisive for a kickass jacket. I've lost weight and could probably get into an XL now. I doubt I'll ever see one though, and wearing this over layers is really not a chore
EDIT: with regards to the 526 vs. 101j, I love the design of the 101j. Still haven't bought one because I've far too many examples of this kind of jacket. Generally it just seems the majority of people love the type III more, in the same way westerns are generally preferred to to work shirts. (Recent) history suggests that majority opinion isn't necessarily to be trusted ::)
