I have not! BiG is the only American retailer that is allowed to carry them, right?
I don’t know tbh but if you’re comparing your 888’s measured the IH way to BiG’s 710 measurements then it won’t be an accurate comparison.

That’s probably where I’m going wrong. I’m looking for that ~13.5” post-soak thigh measurements.

That's pretty extreme on a 34-35 waist. I like full cuts and the only pants I have experienced that are in this range are the Roy Peanuts & Memorial and the Tender 132. The SDA 101 is close too, but with a much lower front raise. There are more choices if willing to go down to 13" thighs…
WRT Samurai, the S3000VX is the one I'm looking at right now...

The only cut that has measurements close to what I want is the IH-888.

For the sake of sharing info, here are measurements for a pair of S500VX 17oz size 33 I just bought from the sales thread here:
- Waist 35
- Front rise 11 (that's the killer on those…)
- Back rise 15
- Thigh 12.8
- Knees 9.5
- Opening 8.5
Damn.

I wish I could go down, but my tree trunk legs won’t let me.

I don't think there's much joy to be had with Samurai for you, unfortunately. Personally, I think their cuts work the best when you are slim and can size for the waist; if you need to size up to accommodate voluminous thighs, you'll end up with lots of unnecessary material around the waist and bell-bottom leg openings.
This a crass generalization, naturally, but if 888 works the best for you then you won't find anything remotely similar here.

Thanks for the heads up! Their fabrics just look so beautiful!

Samurai construction also requires a different mindset. Not that it's bad, just that Samurai made the choice to use all cotton thread, which is considerably less durable than the poly cotton blend that IH uses. As a result, seams begin to fray more quickly and you'll do more spot repairs. If you don't mind, or even like, doing that, then great. But if you don't, it can take a while to accept.

I have a buddy here locally that can darn and repair when necessary and then I send them over to Rain after a while. It’s sounding like I’ll just hold off for different 888 iterations.

I just ordered a pair of S3000VX. I'll post the measurements when I get them, but I already know they won't have the kind of tapper you're looking for. My thighs are slightly smaller than yours, but my calves are weirdly big… It must be all that spinach...
Haha. I’m not super opposed to a straight cut because of how I cuff my jeans. Friggin’ spinach. I have large calves, too. I blame the 560lb squats.

Read the whole thread again and needed some 710xx in my life…

That would do it. Just got over 300lbs for reps myself. One plate at a time… I shipped the pants to be hemmed. Will post measurements when I get them back.

I haven't had any quality-related issues with Samurai and quite like the way they overdo the details - although they might be getting into the territory of over-overdoing them as of late. ::) The latest 25oz S710XXGDB is a prime example of this. I would love to check out that denim but other than that it's like they threw everything at the wall and alas, everything stack, too. ::)
Cut-wise S710 is the closest to IH 777. I love my 24oz pair to bits and would recommend them when/if they decide to initiate round #3.
