There's no Such Thing as a Stupid Question
-
Four years since my initial 'quality boot' purchase, my feet have become picky about footwear. I just spent a week around the ranch working on a pair of low quality rubber boots and both my feet are complaining that fit/support/flex point etc are not up to par with my leather boots.
So I'm looking for suggestions on which rubber boots this group has used which offer similar comfort as their leather counterparts. I'm looking for regular water boots for muddy/flooded conditions in warm weather, not warm/winter rubber boots. I blame the lack of arch support and the flimsy sole to be the main culprits behind my aching feet.
-
^As someone who works almost exclusively in rubber boots, I got a pair of these (https://www.xtratuf.com/non-insulated-xtratuf-legacy-safety-toe-15-22271g-xt.html) and absolutely love them. Will definitely be a repeat purchase after I wear them out…
I've also like these (https://www.shoesforcrews.com/sfc3/index.cfm?changeWebsite=us_en&route=c_store.viewDetailsOfProduct&partnumber=2063) at 1/2 the price I was able to find the xtratufs for not a bad deal. Good durable boots, but not as comfortable for me as the xtratufs are...
I also always use Superfeet insoles (https://www.superfeet.com/en-us) in my boots around the brewery to make sure I'm getting proper support where it's needed...
-
I'm looking into the xtratuf option @emceeQ ; thank you for your suggestions.
I'm heavily weighing the comfort aspect (after waterproofness) over most others on this choice. Do you size differently on the xtratuf boots when you know you will use a Superfeet insole? Or do you swap the provided insole for the Superfeet one and thus avoid sizing differently?
-
@motojobobo I just pop out the provided insole and pop in the Superfeet, and would wear the same size regardless of which insole is in there…
For my sizing (which may or may not be helpful) I have 10.5D Wesco engineers, but I wear a size 12 in the xtratuf with the blue Superfeet.

Here's one… Is the 12oz wabash denim selvedge or projectile-woven? I'm guessing it's projectile, but maybe I'm guessing wrong.
-
It is not woven on a shuttle loom, you can be sure that if it were, the product description would say it was selvedge and we would photograph the selvedge ID.
Copy. Thanks.

Not sure where better to ask… @Giles or anyone else, are a few subforums down lately, or is that just from my end? The buying and selling area seems down unless you already have a link to follow for a specific thread. I've seen one or two others give an issue, though I can't remember which they were.
-
@Giles, this is what shows up for me if I click buying amd selling. I can still see individual threads if I have the link, but I can't see the main subforum. This has happened to me on another subforum or two, but I don't recall which ones they were.
Edit… Idk if there was some kind of cookie problem or something, but I logged out and back in, and now everything is all good.

Hello,
I ordered about 10 yards of selvedge chambray fabric from a mill. The seller said that he would free the yardage if I wrote some good things about the mill on the internet. Although there was an option to get the fabric shipped with the tracking option, I chose to get it shipped without the tracking option to reduce the cost. In all, I paid USD 35. The seller dispatched the package and said that it will take two months to reach my doorstep.
The problem is that the package never arrived and seems to have been "lost". Now that I have escalated it to PayPal, the seller is saying that he is not responsible because:
a) the fabrics were free and I only paid for shipping
b) I chose the option of shipping without trackingI am waiting for PayPal to give their final decision on whether I should get a refund.
But who do you think is responsible in this case? I would like to know your thoughts.
Thank you for reading!

Yep completely you.
You took the risk and it didn’t work out. You win some you lose some.
Cancel the PayPal dispute and put it down to a life lesson

Free product. 2 month shipping time, without tracking. A couple of old proverbs come to mind…
" If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. "
" A fool and his money will soon be parted. "If Paypal finds in your favor, consider yourself VERY lucky. If they don't, consider yourself lucky it wasn't more than $35. Either way, it's a cheap lesson.

Thanks for the replies @Giles @scooter @spitfiredealer !
And yes, it is a life lesson, irrespective of what PayPal decides.
I am still looking to buy a few yards of Japanese denim. Apart from dryselvedge.com and Pacific Blue Denims, are there other reliable sellers who sell smaller quantities of selvedge denim?
Thanks!

yeah me too. Seems like you ripped him off

However… he did pay for shipping and got nothing right? So Shipping was reimbursed? I don’t see big deal.

It’s hard to say since we don’t know what really happened. Assuming the “seller” did actually ship the denim, then this seems like an unfortunate situation for all envolved. Lesson learned for everybody. But if the “seller” never shipped anything, regardless of whether or not the “buyer” paid for tracking, then this is just plain dishonest. In any case, the stakes were low. I think you can chalk it up as a win given the outcome. Always get tracking.
