Watches - another OCD problem
-
Watch shopping in St Thomas was mind numbingly awesome. Pretty much every major house was represented within a 3 block radius. I finally got to try on the Bulgari Octo ultrathin and even with the price tag it was hard to take off.

I'll have to avoid St Thomas @Anesthetist . It could prove an expensive destination!
The Octo Finissimo is rather good. I particularly like the black ceramic version.
As for date windows, I think that the Glasshütte SeaQ does it best on a divers watch.

I like that. Completely unobtrusive but it’s there when you need it.

Counterpoint: if they didn't render numerals at various angles on tachymeter scales they would look pretty bad.
Love this Blancpain dress watch

That Blancpain is perfection

Yes, the 5035. It has been replaced by the 5146 which is a couple of mm larger, but it has a moonphase which I think is a complete waste of time, and it costs more than the 5035….
Agreed with the moonphase… I don't know much about Patek except that they are superexpensive, but that seems to be a reasonable price for a golden high end watch, right?

I sold my only Patek recently so really owe myself one at some point, don't I????
IMO, Patek represents the pinnacle of watch-making. At this price-point, what the watch is made of really has little bearing on the price of the watch. If they made it in steel, that would probably be the one I'd go for

I like the moon phase, particularly the way Patek does it. I have zero use for it but just enjoy the difficulty involved in fitting another complication into the space. Likewise I have no use for a chronograph but would love to pick up a Speedy or Daytina.

The 9 in the date window doesn't look centered on that PP. Lovely watch otherwise

My lovely Mare Nostrum will be going in 2020.

You've been bitten by the watch bug:) Beautiful.
I talked to a friend who knows more than me about watches and he warned me off it, so this is my new "must-have"…...
So, that's not going to happen any time soon…...
