Getting a little decorating done in the shop bathroom.

Our project keeps chugging along. Got a few things knocked out:
The tile guys did an amazing job:
Floors were installed:
I performed a redneck method of Shou Sugi Ban on some leftover cedar siding we had to create the balcony ceiling:
I've been working on prepping some cedar for some accent walls with plenty of help from my parents. We'll continue milling, planing, jointing and routing all of this to go up as shiplap:
FYI, that's my dad in the grey hoodie, I've given him a pair of IH loggers but he likes his dad jeans!
Looks great with a bit of Tung Oil:

Beautiful home!

Damn, I love all of that. The tile is especially fantastic.

Back in Sept, we started the process of doing an addition along with a little kitchen work and some essential electrical upgrades. After a bit of a delay from the architect (a long delay actually), we’re finally up and running.
Global pandemic? Furlough? Depression looming? Sounds like perfect timing [emoji106]
Anyway away we go, the old porch & patio are gone (as is most of grass [emoji30]) and the foundation walls are up. If the weather agrees, the rest of the concrete work goes Mon & Tues. Framing MIGHT even start by Thurs.

Best of luck @Anesthetist! I know things are tough right now but I hope things go smoothly for you! Things like this can be challenging but are typically well worth it in the end, it's just hard to be patient at times.

Delay from an Architect? Get outta here!
Nice looking project and perfect timing to work on something like this @Anesthetist.
Could even be a nice family project. -
Sorry for the infrequent updates! Things have really been moving along and exterior finishing is about half way complete. Concrete board is up as are the fascia & soffits. Next will be the battens and replacing the door trim, gutters, and painting. We’ve chose a color scheme that a lot of Eichler and other MCM architects went with including a local architect, Ralph Fournier

I saw the photos and thought that the top one was your house for a second @Anesthetist!
Looking forward to seeing what the extension is like when it's done. I like the design, and the fact that it's not slavishly following the original house.
Is there any reason you didn't glaze the whole of the rear wall?
-
Thanks Graeme! Haha, the first house actually isnt far from me (suburb though, not the city), was an equal price to the house we currently have, AND in a better school system. I was almost packing my bags but…my wife is anchored in to our current home. We do have great neighbors and she has this thing about not living in a house without a basement [emoji2369] So we talked about it and decided to bring a little detail of it back to the city.
