I was intrigued by this claim on a 911 Turbo S
-
maybe it was the modified grille and the debadging. can't tell if i actually like that after market grille or not..
-
That's the stock grill for a 2017 R8 Plus.
-
uh huh… maybe i have the older model years ingrained in my mind that i somehow expected them to be horizontal...
-
Looks like a fugly aftermarket bumper/grille!
-
I'm not fully familiar with the R8 and didn't even know there was a Plus, but this was one, and a V10 model.
I don't mind it, but the R8 seems like a pretender to me. Not on par with what can be had at that price point from a performance perspective.
-
the r8 was one of the most understated supercar when it first came out in 2006. the price point for the performance you get was truly above all other supercars at that time. fast forward about 2 years, they decided to drop the v10 from lambo (gallardo then huracan) into the r8. i think it was the huracan engine. still a great price point for what it's worth. the plus version is basically a retuned version of the basic model.
as it stands, the r8 still ranks amongst the top 3 when it comes to drag races among all the other supercars you can think of (720s, 911 turbo/gt2/3rs etc) and still retails for considerably less. however, i'm not a drag race kinda guy. and i'll still pick the gt2rs over the r8 for track work. with that said, if you like understated, the r8 is the one supercar you can own and still fly under the radar and give you enough punch to take on the big boys.

Ah ok–thanks @louisbosco I didn't realize that. I think what little I've read must've been on the 8 cyl model.
It looks like the sticker for the V10 Plus started at $206k in 2016, and a 2021 911 Turbo S starts at $203k today.
-
@mclaincausey i'm not too familiar with US pricing but a 2017 article listed the base price of the v10plus at $192k, $40k lesser than it's twin sister the huracan.
Back in 2006-08, the v8 was still not slouch. but i suppose in today's figures, that model would be considered "slow". hence why they only have the v10 and v10plus now.

I bought a new truck today. It's a brand new Jeep Gladiator Overland edition. I got a great deal on it and they gave me a good price on my 12 year old POS truck trade in. They actually gave me $1500 over the value…rust holes, mechanical problems and all, and the new truck was priced below invoice. Trucks seem like they have really junky looking interior now (fake wood grain and chrome). But I really like the minimalist aesthetic on the controls and dash in this one.
I was thinking about waiting for the Ford Bronco. But it just looks like a Jeep Wrangler with a gaudy front end and the other 2 look like Ford Flexs. After having a black truck for so long I decided to get a white one. I like how it looks with the black hard top and accents. I will probably get some kind of cap and a brush gaurd, because I have too many close calls with white tailed deer.
-
Nice looking truck.. congrats man.
I was looking at these a while back but decided to hold off for a little bit

Depending on which way the economy goes now is probably the best time to buy because they are offering employee pricing below invoice price. 2 more months is the end of the model year too. I would have held out for a little longer but my state inspection was due.
Thanks a lot. This is the most expensive thing I've ever committed to buy. I appreciate the bank loaning me the money to buy this too… and the interest rate they gave me was fantastic compared to the scam I got when I bought my truck used.
-
It's 18 feet long. It's pretty big compared to my Ranger. It seats 5 and has a 5 foot bed.
Edit: also thanks. I am EXTREMELY grateful to have the truck. The old one was a constant worry for me.

I think that is a beauty @Filthy ! I’ve always liked the straight lines and the grille on these Jeeps. Never owned one, yet.
You ought to post a pic in IH gear standing in front of it.
How is the fuel economy on it? -
