Pretty neat. It would be fun to try one of those races sometime. I’m essential, so had work that weekend and am also not trained enough at this point.
I was inspired by Rickey Gates to try my own every single street project, and am attempting to run every single street in the city I live in- Longmont, Colorado. One of my rules that he didn’t do in San Fran (for obvious reasons) is to start and end every run from my house on the south east side of town. We’re about 100000 residents and definitely smaller than SF, so logical that he’d start from different places.
I am considering maybe having a “base” somewhere on the west side of town to start/end from, as a lot of the time/distance I do in a day can be just getting out there, let alone then running all the neighborhood streets. And of course our city isn’t built on a grid, which makes it more difficult- I can’t just do the n/s streets one day, then the e/w the next.
Anyway, he is a link to my master map. I am tracking my runs with gps, but this looks cleaner and doesn’t have repeats and you can’t tell exactly where I live!

Runners, up to anything fun lately? Virtual races? Fun running goals, prs on strava segments? Anything?
Got a pair of the Nike Wildhorse 6, which I feel pretty favorable about. Wouldn’t do 100 Miles in em, but maybe up to 100k.
Also tracked down (hopefully) a pair of the Hoka Speedgoat EVO. Went like 5 pages deep on google to find a store in Alaska still has my size. Excited to try them out, I really liked the Mafate EVO 2 last year, but these are lighter and potentially more grippy. I tried v1 of the Speedgoat when v2 came out and did not like them- definitely too narrow and I got blisters. Everything I tried gave me blisters somewhere else. So hoping these are better. Apparently they changed the fit between then and now. -
Completed my first 50K today in Forest Park.
It was a virtual 50K East vs. West Coast by destination Trail races. Here’s a little synapses I wrote for Strava:
First 50K attempt. Prior to this my longest run was 21 miles.
We started up at the Zoo and headed north to get most of the climbing over with in the first few hours while the legs were still fresh.
The view from Pittock Mansion is amazing!
Felt good for the first 15 miles. Around 17-19 I could feel it in the knees and lower back.
For some reason our watches didn’t sync with the trail length data online so when we got to the stashed car we still had extra mileage to do. That was pretty demoralizing, so we turned around and did what we had to do to make 50K. The last 5 miles for me were brutal! Lots of walking and lots of fluid intake. I think I consumed 3.5L of water.
I’ve never felt as bad as I did today after the run and was totally looking forward to a coke and some gas station food but we realized we both left our cash in Tods Truck back at the zoo [emoji2361] so we drove all the way back in a delirious nauseous stupor. When we got to the zoo I puked in the parking lot and took a breather in the grass for a bit before driving home.
Crossing the bridge back to the east side I started puking into a bucket I luckily had up front while driving.. I puked about 4-5 times and got a few honks so I took the omsi exit and pulled into the Hawthorne Asylum (food cart pod that I own and manage with my dad) to take a quick shower, grab a coke and some food. After 2 cokes and half a cauliflower wrap I felt good enough to drive home.Epic day

Awesome @Brock, what an achievement. Enjoy the down time and reflect on your substantial accomplishment.

Really great pix of your epic run – and big smiles at the mansion;)
Puking in a bucket on the way home means it was a good run ! -
Well done @Brock ! Will there be more, or longer distances in your future?

Thanks guys! It was a lot of fun.
I’m definitely going to keep running long distance, I have a plan to circumnavigate Mt. Hood in August. It will be 42 miles with 10,000’ of gainSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Got a slightly used Coros Apex via Facebook marketplace for 200 usd, full retail is 300. Seems fine, and has a lot of the features I was looking for. Don’t know if I would have paid full price as I can get a discount on Suunto via work which makes their watch I was looking at about 70 bucks more, and it seems like that would be nicer in the end, though it sounds like their user interface is not well liked. If cost were no objective, probably would’ve went for one of Garmin Fenix 6 options. Like the solar one a lot. Unfortunately, cost is an objective.
I’ve only used it to track baby walks around the neighborhood so far, but the track looks very accurate. I can tell what side of the street I was on or places we walked in the street vs sidewalk to avoid obstacles. As DCrainmaker noted, some of the metrics in the app are weird. Today’s 4 mile walk at 17:25 a mile with 130 ft of gain gave me 46 points on their training load graph, yesterday’s 3 mile similar pace/gain got me 0 points. Looks like 120 is the max. So not sure how my easy short walk got over a third of those points.
Anyway, looks nice and isn’t too big on my skinny ass wrists.

bloody brilliant @Brock
@neversummer enjoy it !!
I am still pretty happy with the Garmin 245, does what it should and don’t break the bank, tho the Fenix is nicer, but maybe not 500 more nicer…

Cross post from what are you doing today…
Instead of pictures I’ll just include my Strava link.
Circumnavigated Mt. Hood yesterday with some friends. It was an epic day and a massive check off the bucket list!
