Catch of the day [Fishing]
-
I've lived here for about 15 years, yesterday was the first time I have started to explore the many creeks we have…I'm thinking that there may be some excellent Bass fishing in them in the coming weeks.
Today, I am off for an early morning Tope (type of shark) session from the beach about 20 miles away…

Good luck G. Use google earth to find more fishing spots. It’s the best for finishing structure and seeing where fish could be.

Gotta be some fish hanging out by what looks to be an old dock?
Teaching my 11yo to fly fish. Getting him started on a Tenkara rod. I’m getting addicted to it’s simplicity. I believe Tenkara originated in Japan.
Landed his first fish today. Tossed him back in hopes of catching him a little bigger. -
Nice little largie on a wooly bugger. I think that was my first fly fishing catch as well. Well done dude
-
@Matty123 Wooly Bugger is hard to beat when nothing is happening on the surface. He was so excited. Made my day.

Restocks are the best. I’ve a few packages in the mail System right now. I lost a big one the other night and it was my fault Slot size for stripers here is 28”-35” I broke a cardinal rule and tightened the drag on a fish that was over a slot size…. pulled the hook. It’s kept me up for two nights straight.

Hey Giles do you ever fish with bucktail jigs over there?
-
-
Try some bucktails man!

Minnesota's slogan is the "land of 10,000 lakes", but we actually have many more than that.
One of my favorites is Lake O'Dowd in the southwest metro.
My buddy and I caught a few pike and about 10 bass up to 17".
If there's one thing quarantine/pandemic has taught me, it's enjoying the little things.
@Giles do you have a pair of lightweight fishing gloves you can recommend? My hands have been getting fatigue, blisters, and torn up from the braided line after 6 hours of casting.
-
The best gloves I have ever used are these:
https://www.amazon.com/Anglers-Design-ADG-08-offshore-Globe/dp/B009M8RPEK
I have almost worn through my second pair and am I miffed that they don't appear to be available anywhere any longer.
I've bought a few other pairs as back-ups, but none so far have been as good as the anglers design and I end up giving them away.
In the tropics I always take a spare pair, because I simply can't give an 8oz lure with 100lb braid the umph I need, without losing a finger. So I have backups just in case.
So I'm going to need to look for alternatives myself.
I may try these:

First on a fly rod -
Lake Minnewashta is my favorite metro Minneapolis lake. My fishing buddy cancelled because it was raining at 5:30 AM. boy did he ever miss a great day, however i skipped fish selfies as they never turn out well.
my Lund tied to the dock in the last pic

This was not my fish, but I had Google-Earthed the crap out of the local coastline and found an area that I thought looked good. It does require wading through waist deep water to get to some of the shingle banks.
I went with a mate yesterday and we had six between us (
he had 5 and I had 1), so I'll be back. I think we have cracked the best state of tide too…
