Introduce Yourself Here

I've been a member for ages (first IH purchase was 634s in 2016) but have only posted a couple of times. I feel like I ought to contribute pics, but don't have a decent camera and haven't yet worked out a convenient way of taking photos. But here's one anyway - new 555-01, worn for a couple of weeks since I picked them up in the restock. I'll put details in the product thread if the picture turns out to work…
As for me, I live in London but I'm from Manchester (can't state the first without adding the second). I love the friendly feel of this forum, and having been reading so long I feel like I know several of you fairly well without actually having joined in.
Edit: how can I make this image appear smaller?

Great fit on your new 555-01 @Yltas.

Great fit on your new 555-01 @Yltas.
+1 they look great.
Regarding pics, I think the majority of us use phones or have done. To avoid mirror pics start using the timer and propping it up against something, or if you really fancy it a little phone tripod will set you back £20.
Good man for writing an intro, good man for the northern pride

Hi IH Forum
I’m JB. I live in Aarhus, Denmark. And I’m 44 years old.
I Got my first IH in 2018 when I bought my IHM-29-KHA jacket. After that 666-21, PHIXHS, 555-21 and now a lot of IH shirts too….and i’m totally hooked
I have some Tellason, Indigofera stuff etc. and that’s great too, but to me IH have that something extra!I been playing tennis for almost 38 years now and recently moved to a new place right beside my tennis club. It’s going to be a great summer on the courts. And a great summer to all of you guys
Can’t wait for that IHSH-177 19oz to drop
Great to be here.
JB

Hi All!
Lurked around for a minute after my first IH purchase a few months back and decided to introduce myself. I live in Seattle w/ my wife and pup and I do taxes (I know, I know…) for a large local company. I grew up a military brat, but WA state has been home for some time and I'm sure I'll die here.
My journey to IH: after college, maybe around 2008ish, (Go Cougs!) I set out to intentionally buy made in USA clothes, whenever I could. This kind of led me to heritage/workwear inspired brands. But back then I also had a lot of American Apparel clothes lol. I eventually heard the saying "Japan does America better than America". I was intrigued and started perusing the Japanese fashion mags at Kinokuniya bookstore here for more made in USA brands, oddly enough.... I was also led to the book Ametora, which is a great read. A few years back I got into Japanese brands finally. Now that I'm in a better financial situation I've been slowly (granted, much more fast during lockdown) replacing any fast fashion, cheap, etc with higher quality, longer lasting items.
I have a few IH pieces now and I know my collection will grow. I also love Freenote, Filson (duh, being in Seattle), Merz and other Japanese brands for loopwheel. Quick, crappy pic below is me in my lovely ihsw-41 and my AMAZING ih-803-wh. I love these pants! When not in my house slippers I'm usually rocking Birks, Vans or RWs. I also just picked up a fantastic pair of lefty 634s from the outlet. So another thing that brought me to IH was the abundance of wider fits. I love my heavy tapers (Freenote!) for my big thighs but I just want some wide fits also! And while my Dickies 874s are great, they don't age particularly well and can get a little stale looking in my wardrobe. Phew, sorry for the life story...but excited to be here and to have this forum as an excellent resource!
Thanks all! -Kenny

Hi,
I have been looking at these jeans since I lucked into a pair of Viberg x Iron Heart engineer boots a couple of years ago.
I went for IH 555 01 as they measure nigh on the same as my Levi 502.
Wow I was not disapointed with the denim or cut. But. I have worn them for two evenings around the house and they are tough to sit in and are uncomfortable on the back of the knee.
I nearly sent them back after putting them on but bit the bullet as they are so close to the 502s.
The Levis though are thin and have a bit of elastane in them which is why they are so comfy, the 555s on the other hand don't!.
They have given a bit already but are restrictive up top and behind the knees, I guess this is normal?
I read somewhere getting them wet and wearing them and and doing some stretching can help.
Or do I need to grow a pair and battle them to comfort? -
@JR.303. Welcome to the forum.
Your 21oz 555’s are around twice the weight and thickness of a pair of Levi’s and as you say contain noe elastane or polyurethane. They are also a slim cut, with a small knee measurement. In addition your Levi’s will have gone through many aggressive post construction treatments designed to soften the denim or to change it’s appearance (which also softens the denim).
What you are describing is totally normal. You are at the start of the break-in process. The good news is that the 21oz is a relatively easy jean to break in. Soaking won’t help much, stretching might but may also have unwanted side effects (knee bagging for example). The key is to wear them. Just wear them, and not only when you’re sat at home. Go for a walk, climb a hill, go to a party (while practising social distancing, of course). Do whatever it is you normally do with your jeans on and at some point they’ll be broken in and the most comfortable jeans you own.
