Eyeglasses / Sunglasses Discussion

Those Jacques Marie Mage suit you very well.
-
Nice glasses @JDelage, I love mine
-
@LewisStonehouse Those are the Dealan, right? They look good on you!
-
Thanks! They are indeed

@JDelage and @LewisStonehouse I'm liking the JMM frames.
I'm after the Ringo, but also considering the Clark. I was going to head into Melbourne today, but the city's on Stage 4 lockdown, so everything is closed.

I've been digging into the Jacques Marie Mage back catalogue. If I'm being sensible, I'll get something like the Clark, Ringo, or possibly Willem. They've got relatively small lenses, my eyes are pretty much perfectly centred in them, and the Japanese frames are beautifully made.
But I wear a pair by Kuboraum, I had a pair of JF Rey's before that, and there's the Vanguard collection…
The frame on the left is the Carmen in the coal finish. On the right is the Ray, which is a wrap around design.
The Carmen might be tricky. It's got a lens height of 27 to 28 mm, and the lower limit for progressive lenses is around 28 to 30 mm. The Ray has a base eight curve, which will probably give an optical lab a headache.
Anyone seen the JMM Italian made frames? How do they compare with the Japanese ones?

Got my new Revo's today. 35th anniversary limited to 1000 pairs. mine are number 139
they came with a free vintage Revo sweatshirt. (it is not IH quality) It will be a beater shirt
They have 4 set of hinges to fold up the titanium frames and they are extremely lightweight at just 24 grams.
retailing at $400, i had a promo code for 75% off since they have all of their repair shops shut down sue to Covid. I would say a steal at $99.

The Clark you link to (white frame X blue lenses) might be a savvy collector's purchase as there's only 150 of them. Plus, they would look good with indigo!
I didn't know JMM made anything in Italy. Do you have a specific example in mind per chance?
-
I do like the Clark in white. If I get a pair, I'll get them made up with a set of Transitions lenses with a blue mirror.
It seems as though the Circa range, which are the more traditional styles, come from Japan; whilst the Vanguard collection, which are a bit more radical, are mostly Italian.
The JMM Carmen and Ray in my previous post originate from Italy, and are what I'm interested in. I've not seen them, but with Victoria in lockdown it's rather hard to make a trip to Melbourne to go spectacle shopping.
-
Maybe it's down to the specialities of the companies that JMM works with. I could see the Japanese as producing very refined, retro acetate frames, and their titanium spectacles are ahead of the game. Perhaps the Italian firm has more experience with avant garde designs.
But I'm speculating here!

So… I have had these DITA glasses I had done up for a few years and have never had the guts to wear in front of my wife lol - wondering if I should just keep rocking them as glasses (when she is gone, obviously) or if I should try to get my local rep to order me some tinted lenses and turn into sunglasses so they “see the light of day” (pun 100% intended)
