WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY (PICS)

Lazy Sunday afternoon in a hammock, enjoying cool mountain air and expansive views.

Having gone to Kent for a funeral last week and were in the presence of "new" people, Paula and I got tested today.
We are displaying no symptoms, so we had to lie when booking the tests. Which frankly, I find farcical, especially as there were 3 people being tested when I was there, in a facility that can do 20 or 30 concurrently…..

I tried doing my first polar bear plunge…I chickened out!
I was having a conversation about ice swimming just yesterday. Some of my colleagues do it regularly and my daughter, who has recently moved here from the UK wants to give it a try. Bloody hippy ??? Personally I feel that if swimming in the Arctic Ocean in summer leaves scars visible and mental, then the winter is a non-starter. Chickening out betrays a healthy amount of common sense imho

Got home from dropping some food off to my mum’s front door, then had first attempt at using our pizza oven when we got home.
Didn’t burn it as much as I thought I would! [emoji1787][emoji1787]

How do you like the Ooni oven? I've been considering getting one for a couple of years, but never seem to make up my mind.

Thanks chaps.
Hi Chris,
I certainly like it. Took about twenty to twenty five minutes to get to 400 degrees. Glad I got the gas one and not the wood burning one as can regulate the temperature better. Once up to heat, they cooked the pizzas in about a minute. It is also pretty cool to look at.
Cooked the pizza really well but there is definitely a knack to cooking them and getting the temperature right. I turned the heat down for the fourth pizza to minimise the risk of burning and it definitely did not cook the dough properly.
All in all, I am glad that we got it as can definitely see it getting a lot of use in the summer (both by us as a family as the kids love pizza and also for entertaining guests).
However, a firm negative is the additional costs beyond the oven, which I would say is a key consideration to getting one (one which I was not initially aware of).

The ooni cover was £30-£40

the peels were £50 each (peel for launching and peel for turning). Initially I did not get the turning peel but I was advised by a family friend that I would need it. They were absolutely right and I would have been fucked without it.

The other thing that had to buy was a laser thermometer to measure the temp of the pizza stone. My wife suggested that we didn’t need the thermometer until I politely asked her if she would like to stick her hand into a 400 degree furnace, naturally she changed her mind!
All in, if you can stomach the initial outlay and you think that you will use it regularly then I would certainly recommend getting one.
Hope that helps.
