Quick update as these are hitting the 1 yr mark in a few days.
After around 100ish days of wear these are still tough as hell. Still waiting for them to reach thicc sweatpants status.

Scored on these 777XHS on ebay, almost brand new. The guy said he has only worn them a couple of times with no soak nor wash. They seem so much softer than my XHSib tough. Really digging the 25 Oz now, it‘s awesome.

First time XHS owner. I have both 666 and 777 on the way. Trying to decide which cut will be a better fit. Do you guys recommend first soaking the new pair right away or wearing them for some time before soaking? I’ve been reading different suggestions in the forum and I’m not quite sure what the right thing to do is. Also, if soaking is it better to soak in cold or warm water? Thanks for your help.

It won’t hurt to wear them for just a little bit (like a week or two) to start the break in process, but you want to get all the shrinkage out way before you start to get any fades. And to get all the shrinkage out, and everyone who is relatively new to this denim thing should pay really close attention to this and even memorize it, YOU’RE NOT GOING TO GET ALL THE SHRINKAGE OUT WITH A SOAK. You need hot water AND agitation. You’re not going to hurt anything, it’s not going to mess up your fades, and it’s best to get all the shrinkage out relatively right away and be done with it, because it’s going to happen eventually anyway. Turn the jeans inside out, soak them for 15-20 minutes in hot water, and then either throw them in the washer on the gentle cycle with no spin or agitate them thoroughly yourself for at least 5 minutes, and then hang dry. And then just wear them and repeat the process whenever they get dirty or smelly.
