Eyeglasses / Sunglasses Discussion

For me, bigger is always better when it comes to sunnies
I have some nice sleek glasses and I grab my beater Ray Band everyday since the coverage is so much better and easier to wear.

I have kind of a small head, so I try to avoid large sunglasses, since they tend to look like this on me
I bought a very comfortable appropriately sized pair from the children's section at a ski store once… -
New eyewear… Effector Fuzz-S from @Danny RnH

^ Nice glasses @Chap. I also have clear frames which I love; Dita Insider

I know @den1mhead …guess who made me wanting a pair of clear frames

Been rocking these Persol 714's for the past few years. Really tempted to get some Jacques Marie Mage as my next pair though.

I bought a very comfortable appropriately sized pair from the children's section at a ski store once…I have the exact opposite problem. Big head = small frames make it look even bigger and/or make me look like some weirdo whose eyes are too close together

Went down to a local shop where they happen to have a pair of Moscot Lemtosh 49's in stock and they fit perfect.
I know in the pictures, it looks like they might be a bit too big but thats selfies for you I guess. The arms where longer aswell so they where more comfortable on my head.

That's a proper fit there my friend. Fine looking specs that work great for your head!!

@zhivago, cheers!

New specs day! Dita Schema One in silver/clear.

I can relate 100%. I have even had to resort to buying sunglasses to repurpose as eyeglasses as they tend to run larger than typical optical frames. You know it's bad when you wish Poten made XL baseball caps, I can only wear a Large when I have short to almost no hair.
In regards to Jacques Marie Mage, I own a pair of Molino optical frames and have handled a few pairs of their sunglasses and I've got to say that I find them hard to justify the price point. The (many) Dita's I've owned seem to be better constructed. That being said, I do prefer more of JMM's lines and the styling.

Picked up a pair of Akila HiFi 2.0 on a whim because they looked cool and were pretty reasonably priced, and man I'm pretty stoked with em. I've always been a fan of Wayfarers, and these are sorta like a slightly more modernized version. Seem like nice quality, too.

I was out looking at glasses (again) yesterday.
Jacques Marie Mage Fontana in silver. These are the sunglasses with the lenses popped out, sorry about the weird eye angle!
Mr Leight Mulholland CL in Summit. These have an adjustable arm, which is a bit of a gimmick, but I liked it as a detail. There is also a clip-on available, if you want to avoid going the transitions route.
Ahlem Place de la Bastille in white gold turtle Windsor. There's a clip on available (though sold out), and a really cool matte black variant as sunglasses.
Jacques Marie Mage Rodeo in bison mahogany. Yes, they're covered in leather, and wearing them is guaranteed to make you into a rock star. Not on the shopping list, but I did like them.
I'm also tempted by a pair of Jacques Marie Mage Alvin frames in black. The only pair that I've found for sale are in Ireland, and I'm in Australia. They're a similar size and shape to the Edouard, which did fit me, so it's not a huge gamble.
And there's the Jacques Marie Mage Amboise in antique gold, but no-one has them in Australia.
I'm not sure how much the Mr Leight frames are in Australia, but they're $945 (US) in the online store, which will probably translate to around $1500 here. The rest were around $800 to $1000. The perceived quality felt similar, the finish on the Ahlems were maybe not as good as the JMM frames.
I took a look at a pair of Dita Lineus frames, but I wasn't too sure about them. I would disagree with @Clint_D about them versus JMM, but my girlfriend's Ditas are very nice, so maybe it depends on the design. That said, I suspect that both companies (and Mr Leight) use the same suppliers.

I think the top two are my faves. I generally tend to gravitate towards more minimal frames, especially digging the Mulhollands.

@Graeme , thanks for your pics and review of those frames. I’m beginning to educate myself on the subject as a new glass wearer before committing to a good quality frame.
