IH-888S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
The waistband is a bit tight, but I’m hoping for around an inch of stretch (my 33s went about 1.5”).
I feel like this is a lesson I should have learned a long time ago, especially with the 21oz. For the longest time ive been sizing up on the 555 cut to make the thighs work. Turns out I should have went with the 888 all along. Thighs AND waist fit perfect when I factor in stretch. Live and learn i guess.

hej everyone
i have a beautiful pair of IH-777S-19ib they fit perfectly, i only wish that the back rise is a bit higher. i move a lot and crouching is sometimes (even with belt on) exposing the bits i would keep for myself
that's why i'm looking into direction of the 21oz 888s. is there someone here that has both pairs and can comment on sizing ?
my size in 777s is 33 (actual 33.8) and they are very generous in the waist. top block is fine and fit super nice, but i need a belt. could definitely go with whole inch down in waist. -
Sounds to me like a pair of 555s is what you’re looking for,especially if the only issue is a bit more back rise.
thanks Jett, yeah, initially was thinking about that, but would rather go for a bit more relaxed than slim cut.
-
@prpx I had the exact same issue. I started with 888 and I love them, but the back rise is a tad high, so then I went for a pair of 777 which I also love, but the back rise is a bit shorter than I preferred granted it is a great pair still that I wear frequently. So I decided to try 555 in the fade to grey mainly because the back rise seemed between the 888 and 777 and its definitely a sweet spot. They are much slimmer than the 888, much closer to 777 in overall fit IMO, but the 888 back rise you may find too high depending on what you're looking for vs the 555. Again this is just my experience with the pairs, and the 888 and 555 both seem like good options if you want something higher rised in back.

@hgering27 - thanks a lot!
originally i was considering 555's but there were no sizes available so i went with 777's. on me the 777's are really super nice, a bit wide in waist and a bit low on back. the rest is great, really perfect fit, but i wouldn't go any tighter. i'm 45yo and like a tad bit more leg space. i think i'll just go size down with 888'sthanks again, people on this forum are just precious!!

Which stockists carry this cut? Scanned through this post and didn't see it listed but easy to overlook given the number of pages.
I know that SelfEdge, Withered Fig, and Rivet and Hide carry some of the fabrics in the 888 cut but I'm not sure exactly which ones off the top of my head.

It's a difficult question to answer. Loads of retailers have taken them, who still has them in stock, no idea. Check out the retailer listings and get in touch….
-
Thanks. I can check and verify stock availability. I wasn't sure though which stockists were carrying the cut and have seen the list of stockists who picked up a particular cut included on that cut's forum page, so I wasn't sure if I was overlooking that in this instance. Either way, I'll check the various stockists when time permits.

These were released before IHUK started doing the stockist lists om every thread and have been remake at least once. No guarantee that those who took them the first time took them the second.
Have a look at Brund in Copenhagen. They had some last time I looked.

Today marks 200 wear days.
-
@weftyarn Look'n great. What's your wash routine?
-
Thanks, @hoppy_IPA
I wash them whenever I feel like it makes sense. I try to wait with the first soak (32 wear days in this case),
from thereon I don’t really care too much.Sometimes there’s 15 wears between washes, sometimes I do woodworking in them and wash them after few days already.
I love the more evenly faded look and Im extremely happy how these are turning out!Here’s the „wear days log“
Blue = Soak (30deg, Samurai Thunder Soap)
Green = Wash (60deg 800/min) -
Hey gang,
I’m going back and forth between 29 and 30. My preferred thigh measurement is 12 to 12.5. Given these are sanforized and one washed, the 12.1 (of the 30s) may stretch past 12.5, but the 11.7 (of the 29s) may not stretch to 12. Anything below 12 is just too tight. I had a pair of IH B&S UHRs which shrunk just below 12 and I eventually had to give them up because they did not yield at all (and were amazingly unbreathable).
I read somewhere in here that 1/2 inch of stretch in the thighs was possible. As long as the waist stretches beyond 30.5, no problem there.
Any thoughts? Thanks

Hi @Cali, I have sadly played the „thigh game“ many times (with several fabrics, NOT the 21OZ though), and my main finding is that „never bet on thigh stretch“ is the way to go.
Yes, the 21OZ is stretchy, but while stretching a waist is a fairly natural process (just get the top button closed and you’re good), stretching a thigh can be very frustrating (if it even works, I’ve failed multiple times).
I’d rather see if I could get measures and pick the 30 with the smallest or 29 with the biggest thigh.
That’s just my two cents, I hope this helps. Maybe others have successfully stretched 21OZ thighs though and can give you better advise
