IHSH-27 - 12oz Selvedge Denim Western Shirt

Are there any washing standards with this shirt, by that I mean how long to go between washes? With jeans its easy to go months without a wash, but shirts seem to smell a lot sooner. I've worn mine for a about a week as much as I can and can't imagine wearing it in public after a couple of weeks without washing it.

I own the 08 and the 27 shirts and also bought my 27 a size smaller, love the fit of both.
Thanks. That's what I wanted to hear

If it just smells stick it in the freezer, that'll kill the bacteria that's making it smell.
I've got a 27 and haven't washed it yet, just soaked it.
Gonna wait 6 months 'till I wash it. -

Sooo, I'm so happy to get my shirt today. Kudos and thanks to Giles for super fast shipping and for adding the fantastic stickers! The fitpics turned out sh*t, but they're good enough to hear your opinion. I love the (pre-soak) fit and would keep it…
But one thing's gotta be clear IHSH27 vs. IHSH 08 = Me vs. Denim Sailor, if you know what I mean... This ones much lighter and perfect for spring. Decent daylight pics will follow....

that shirt is looking great G$.

^^ beautiful. I love how the selvage peeks out. I take beatle's "Bam" as sign to keep that shirt, right?
-
No, of course not. Just asking because I sized down and didn't soak yet. How could I let go of this beauty?
-
Thanks. That's what I wanted to hear. I'll fall aslepp smiling tonight…

MP - gotta warn you (and not at all trying to change your mind, I prefer this shirt with a slim fit)
even with a hot soak, don't be surprised when the shirt shrinks more after a machine wash, even if that's a cold or lukewarm wash
I think G had the same experience I did. I gave mine a good hot soak when I first got it and it shrank a little. After about 2 months I threw mine in the washer cold and it shrank a good bit more, which I'm happy about.
I think G had said something to the effect of this denim takes some agitation to get all the shrink out and that would be my experience.
A super shirt, enjoy.

Thanks fellas. I absolutely love it
Here's some new pics:

Agreed. From what I've read, heat does shrink cotton but the fibers shrink more in conjunction with agitation because the fibers bind together more from the motion and then the fibers dry this way. Wool for example will shrink much more with agitation too for the same reason. I found an article online (a good one from a trade publication, not a bullshit one) a while back that I can get the link for if anyone's interested.
It is likely that these shirts would shrink better in the old style drum washing machines too because the action is much rougher than the new front loaders.
