Awesome shots of the surfers again, @Jett129
Love the first one… So dynamic!!I'm curious: Have you tried taking a shot at a low shutter speed (1/15 or so) and drawing the camera with the surfer to smooth out the water and keep the surfer sharp?
Only works if the surfer is in a static position like on the last pic but i imagine it would make for an absolutely stunning shot!

I'm getting back into shooting after not really doing anything for the last 2-3 years. I've got a Nikon D750 and a 50mm 1.4g that I'm mostly using. Also have a 24-70 2.8g, but don't use it as much because I want an easy grab and go setup to shoot with and stash in my backpack.

Thinking of moving some of that gear and going mirrorless? What's a good mirrorless setup on the used market these days?
-
Absolutely beautiful day at Eibsee, which is surrounded some of the most beautiful mountains in the Bavarian alps, among them Germany's tallest mountain Zugspitze.
I went a bit HDR with my film recipe, but it actually resembles the magnificent colors we saw. From yellow grass to turquoise / green / blue water and dark green trees covered by the first signs of snow.
Here's some shots. All shot with a 7Artisans 35mm 1.4 manual lens. Almost everything was shot on f8 with the focus dialed in to hyperlocal distance to "just shoot" without thinking too much.
// Proof that messing up the focus sometimes makes for the most beautiful shots. This was one of the first shots of the day and i think it is my favorite
// White, dark blues, greens…
// Mixing some browns in
// The lighting changed very frequently. This looks almost sunset-like when in fact it was 1pm
// Mirrored mountains in the crystal clear lake
// Some fog appeared
// Brown leaves with snow covered greens in the background

@chrisjohnnick That's awesome! Looking forward to see some shots of yours. For used market mirrorless I would absolutely recommend The Sony A6### series if you're looking for "best bang for the buck". Many people are selling their used setups and you can get great deals including lenses, etc…
You can also find absolutely great deals with Fuji's X-T# series, now that the X-T5 has been released. The X-T3 is still a phenomenal camera if you're mainly looking for shooting stills.
Comes down to personal preference in the end though. May I ask what shooting scenario (portraiture / sports / landscape / travel / street...) you are looking at and what your budget is?
-
mostly portrait/street/travel shots when I'm out and about with the family. Looking to spend maybe $500-$700 all in for a body and lens. I've seen lots of used Sony A6000's in that range.
-
Also found a Canon M5 locally for $450 with a 22mm lens. Intrigued by the touch screen, bluetooth and same MP as my d750.
-
The A6000 together with a Samyang 12mm and Samyang 35mm was my first setup and I absolutely loved it! The A6000 is still pretty decent I would say. Can also recommend the Sigma lenses if you're not into Manual shooting and appreciate Auto Focus. Invest in glass, not in body

@weftyarn This is as close as I’ve ever come to that and it wasn’t deliberate. I was waiting for the sun to set and there were some guys surfing,so I took a few shots,but neglected to adjust my settings for action photography. This is also the first surfing picture I ever posted on IG. Had to screenshot it to show you,and look who happened to like it way back then.
-
@Jett129 Wow!!! Yes, I wasn’t able to express it but that’s exactly what I imagined it to look like
Love the B&W pic btw!

I stumbled across this earlier today. As someone who can’t, I thought it might interest those who can.

Is there anyone here into Macro Photography? I have been doing it for quite some time and I have almost given up on it and I'm now trying to sell some of my gear. Is anyone here interested?
-
@the246guy I wasn’t using my Macro gear as well,and then I got a Lensball,and found that it was perfect for it. Maybe something to consider.

That was an interesting read, thanks @ARNC
Truly inspiring story that goes to show nothing is more interesting than the unordinary.
