IHM-29-BLK Alpaca Lined Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - Black
-
Gents,
I just copped this N1 BLK size XL f/ the outlet. Been looking for a proper winter coat for literally years. This should do nicely.
Opinions on fit? I have an IHxSE type III denim jacket and the blanket lined riders jacket both in XXL. I wear IH westerns in XL. In fit pics I have on an XL UHF under the N1. I think this is on the edge of being too large, but acceptable. I could have gone w/ and L, but wasn't available at the time.
Cheers!

It is on the larger side. Still looks good. I’m unsure as to whether the L would have been better.
I am also an XL in most shirts, and have an IH n-1. I layer under it and it works fine, buy I’d go L if I were to buy a new one. That being said, the XL over heavy shirts works great in our cold winters.

Guess you gotta ask yourself if you will always wear layers under it? If you live somewhere proper cold like @neph93 then room for layering is essential. I would imagine it's going to look too big with just a T-shirt under

I live in the mountains of CO, in the Vail area. We definitely get cold temps here in the winter, but not as cold as where @neph93 is. I'll only be wearing this N1 when it's really cold and I'll have some type of heavy flannel or denim shirt underneath. I don't wear multiple layers like heavy sweaters or cardigans. Worst case scenario is I'd wear an extra insulated layer on those scarce occasions when it's a high of -10F.
I did speak with the IH crew prior to purchasing, and was advised that given my stats an XL would suite me. Hoping to hear back from them here, or I'll contact them directly.
Thx fella's. mpp

Like Neph said, I think you’re good and I dont think you’d necessarily want to size down. I wear a large in the IH N-1 and mine is a hair trimmer but not by much. Yours fits like how my Ricksons fit and I wore mine for 5 winters comfortably.

Note the IHM-32-BLK is an N1, it has a new lot number as the dyeing process is different from previous black N1's.

I'm usually only an active reader/lurker on the forum so I don't post much, but I think this jacket deserves a shout-out. It's been on my radar for a while and lucky me the last size available in the outlet was XXL. Just in time before the long and dark Helsinki winter. Here's couple of indoor fit pics.

JN wins the award for the best beard on the forum… and the best music collection.
Also, the jacket looks GREAT.

…looks like a perfect fit JN!

…from the house to the truck to the shop to the truck to the house, the N1 alpaca is wonderful! If I had to work outside or spend any lengthy time in the sub-zero temperatures we're now experiencing I'm thinking the alpaca blend would take a back seat to straight shearling.
...so far though this N1 is my go to cold weather jacket and it sure is cozy!

Was looking to purchase an N1, I went to Self Edge and had to decide between the new version in Olive or they had the older version in black with the chocolate alpaca. Since I already have an m65 in olive I was leaning towards the black and I actually prefer the chocolate colored alpaca on the old black N1 to the lighter colored alpaca on the newer ones. I lose out on the collar wind resistance but it doesn't get too Arctic here.
Have to say the jacket is amazing! Totally overbuilt and incredibly warm. The alpaca lined pockets are awesome.
This is my only clothing I own with fur and I was curious where does Iron Heart source their alpaca from? Ethical sourcing of animal products is always something I look for…
