IH-777S-142 - 14oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Tapered Jeans - Indigo
-
@Richard - I too find the 142 denim to snug up with a wash, but like @Neph93 said, it will stretch back and then some past initial measures. One funny thing I’ve noticed is the 142 does not have the natural “give” that the 21oz has… I almost feel like the 21oz indigo has some inherent stretch to it due to the weave, but the 142 is much less giving, Especially pre stretch.
Love the smooth face of the denim, and after 3 washes, mine not has almost no sheen to it - looks very old school - I dig it.

Six months wear, nice fit before wash, but one cold wash and twenty odd wearings later these still aren’t stretched and remain uncomfortable. The waistband has an inch to spare, but the ass and upper thighs still really tight. Can walk, but not squat. Tying shoelaces is a task…. Lol. Have any old hands any advice? Should I persevere, or give up and switch instead to the 555 01 (I have the 555 03, sized to the prewash 777 14, and these post soak, while still tough, are soooo much better). Cheers.

Dii ok not give up, after the 3-4th wash process, they stretch back out within a few hours.
I’ve never had much mobility in my pair, and In a big guy, so I just always tie my shoes before buttoning my jeans.
I will say, turn the inside out, give them a heavy steam iron session, and out back in immediately and just sit in a low chair for a bit.
I also tend to throw my wallet in my front pockets when doing remedial tasks like sitting at my computer, and then remove it - it seems to stretch the thighs

Hmmmm. Cheers. That’s what I’m thinking. But they were great before the first cold wash, and not supposed to shrink. And I’ve only put on 2Kg during lockdown. The waistband is fine and I have over an inch to spare. It’s just the rest of the top block. Will persevere…. Certainly for a bit. Am now wondering if I just prefer the 555.... LOL. Thanks.

@Richard , for what it’s worth, Ive worn mine about 10 times after their most recent wash, and it wasn’t until yesterday that the fabric started to give again. Two days ago, could barely button and super tight, today, almost relaxed, considering..
And I’ve washed them 4-5 times already
Don’t be afraid to wear them tight, especially around the house - they will give, and they are so comfy when they do stretch a bit!

Nice looking pair of jeans there @hoppy_IPA Out of interest, when it comes to those measurements is that before the wash and after the wash?
-
Thanks, Neph. And you are correct - before is with several wears & after is from cold wash + line dry.
-
Nice heads up to know that the waist can shrink up to 1.6". Thanks @hoppy_IPA for the update!
Just got these in the mail today and have to say its so soft and smooth to the touch, feels so lightweight compared to the other jeans i own! (sda 107 15oz, momotaro 15.7oz, pbj 18oz)
First pair of IH and quite amazed how comfortable it is from the get go.
-
@reddieodin congrats on your first pair of IH !!! Great choice on the 14oz it’s such a great denim
@hoppy_IPA your denim is looking awesome. Quite surprised at the shrinkage you got on your pair. & another shot where your dog is eyeing out the IH? Don’t hold back on him dogs deserve IH too

Thanks, Rox! That shrink surprised me too. Ive hot washed/machine dried & it's very close both ways. I guess its true how much difference agitation makes. Thankfully this stuff is a breeze to stretch back out. And don't tempt me to post more dog pics lol

The 142 denim continues to amaze me - I love clean and “put together” it is from afar (easily worn in office settings - yes up close is just pops with vibrant blues [emoji170]

@Appfaff I agree. Seems to me to be a slow-but-steady fader (at least so far).
-
Slow is true, but it’s been nice getting to enjoy the deep blue coloring longer than usual!

I wish I found it a breeze…. The top block has been incredibly tight since a six month wash. Room in the waistband, but everywhere else tight. Am persevering and trying not to think about the 555 21.
-
I do agree about the fades. Lovely electric blues. Which is largely why I’m persevering. Lol.

My experience is that most sanforised denim
goes back to initial measurements with a proper wash. If it has been stretched out it is easy to get moving again.I always get nervous pulling on my IH-888s-od after a wash. They are the smallest measuring jeans I have and I sized way down. They are super tight for the first hour but by the end of the day the waist has given out at least 1.5”.
-
Waistband really stretched out. I guess washing softens up the denim elsewhere over time too, right? My 555-03 are like a dream, but these 777-14 less so now, but the sizing is pretty much the same. It’s probably cut for me. I love the look though.
