@Smiladon Seeing some electric blue on those jeans. Great combo with IHJ-64.
Yeah, I'm seeing them too! I've worn them for 43 days straight, and they are getting pretty comfortable. Totally psyched on how they look with the 64. I'm seeing a bit of evo on it too, the inner "gun"pocket button is making a little ring on the outer leather

Gotta say, this denim really is the best. I am on the 555-XHSib version but this one is going to be hard to pass up. I know the 6 weeks of pain is often spoken about in hushed tones but the results speak for themselves.

Hey Fam,
Sizing question.
Spent the past few days reading this thread and talking with Graham, need some help picking my size!
I have a pair of 777sbg BS69xSOP420 in size 33, and I looooove them. I know the its a softer denim with a bit more stretch, so I was looking for some sizing advice.
BS69xSOP420
Waist: 90cm (45.0cm with the IH measuring style)
Thigh: 30.5cmThis puts me aroundish the 34’s or 35’s in the 777 XHSib’s
The 35’s start with a waist of 91.2cm (larger than my current pair), and thigh at 32.8cm. Out of the box they’d fit pretty well, maybe a touch baggy. I’m worried about them stretching out over time, as seems to be the trend in this thread.
The 34’s start with a waist of 88.1cm, if they stretch the traditional 1 inch (2.5cm), that would put me pretty much perfect in terms of waist. And the thigh is 32cm, not perfect, but a little closer to the BS69’s.
So, wise people of the IH forums, what should I do?
Go for the 34’s and tough out the waist?
Go for the 35’s and enjoy the roominess and maybe do a hot soak? Thanks for the help!

My 555 XHS's were on the button with a bit of tightness in the waist, glad I did not size up as they have relaxed a bunch in the last 2 weeks with daily wear. Depends on how you would like them to fit, for me baggy is a no go so I'd go with the smaller pair.

Go for the 35’s and enjoy the roominess and maybe do a hot soak? Are those measurements for the SBG as they are now after having been broken in?
Bare in mind that the XHS will shrink a little when they get a wash. You’ll loose a centimeter or two in the waist then. The XHS typically ends up about half an inch bigger than published measurements after shrinkage and stretch.
This denim is very different to the 21oz. I have sized down in XHS before and while it is doable a more relaxed for in this denim may be a good long term bet, if you want very comfortable jeans.
That being said I think the 35’s will be too big for you. Have you asked Graham about a rogue 34 in bigger measurements?

The measurements are from the broken in SBG, about a year of reasonable wear.
I agree on the 35’s. Is expecting 1” in the waist too much to hope for?
I’ll reach out to Graham now.
Thanks for the reply!

One inch of shrinkage is the Max you will get. Most people get less judging by my own experience and documentation here. One inch of stretch is normal. That leaves you with a little aggregate stretch.
I guess if your jeans shrink 0.5” and you achieve 1.5” stretch then you have 1” aggregate stretch. I’d say it is possible but I wouldn’t bank on it.

Just heard from Graham, looks like they have an 88.6 waist. With .5” of stretch, that puts the pair around 89.8cm, which is pretty close to ideal. I think I’m going to pull the trigger on them!

I think I was a little unclear. If I plan on no soak/wash, just wearing them day one. Is hoping for .5-1” of stretch in the waist reasonable?
I understand that after the first wash they will shrink down (about 1”), but after that I should be able to get them back out to the “stretched” waist size?
Thanks for all your help, super excited!

You’ll get an inch wearing them without a soak, but you’ll need to leave the legs an inch longer than normal or leave them unhemmed. You also risk fade shift if you wear them too long without washing. If honeycombs form and they shrink they will end up an inch higher than they should be.

This is super helpful / a great point.
I just pulled the trigger, so the jeans should show up next week some time.
Do you recommend doing an initial soak, after I make sure they fit? Or am I just asking for a world of pain and potentially broken fingers?
-
Assuming you have ordered them unhemmed then try them on. If they fit ok and you can get them done up I would recommend a soak to get the shrinkage out. Then you know what your dealing with and have a week or so of awkwardness ahead of you.
If they are too snug you have the choice of returning them or wearing for a couple of weeks to stretch them, then soaking.
Feel free to post pics of you’re unsure.
The buttons tend to be difficult the first two or three goes with a soak or otherwise. Holding the holes open with reverse pliers helps a lot.

@rodspeed I'd say that is your own judgement call. Personally I think they look good in the leg and would definitely wear them like that.
I would be worried about the shrinkage you'll get with a wash/soak however. They will probably loose 0.3-0.5" in the thigh and then they may cause you some trouble.
