Span 3200mm.  2x5's.  400mm centres.  The T&G chipboard flooring will be screwed into the 2x5's in a sort of Les, "let's see how many boxes of screws we can get through" fashion, which will add a load of rigidity…..

You infact did, per our good old german DIN 18065 says that a frequently used Stair should have a Rise between 14-20cm and a going between 23-27cm, which means your in regulation. 18cm/26cm is as stated in the Books rated as "bequem" which means comfortable. Sounds like a nice Stair.

A fire is something that worries the shit out of me, Adam C and I talked about doing this a year or so ago and then forgot, so your unsolicited advice was a very welcome reminder.

What gobsmacks me is that our contents insurance doe not mandate any fire protection, fire is not even mentioned as a risk…..Doh
