The Sole Rebels venture ended up a bust… I ended up requesing and getting a refund from paypal. I think there is a conflict in Ethiopia and they haven't responded to my emails in 7 weeks...

I totally forgot about this, but as soon as I saw you post to this thread, I instantly remembered this whole thing! I figured you had received them and were showing them off.
Dang! That's a shame. Glad you got your money back.

I am disappointed for sure
PayPal has always given me my money back anytime there is a dispute. I really appreciate them a lot.

outside of my normal style, and definitely more modern than I think works for me, but something about these and their connection to the brands that got me into denim had me swoon for these Kim Jones x Converse 70's. Top off finding my size in both colors, and I'm one happy camper.
Now, no clue what to wear them with lol
-
Those are rad Adam @Appfaff, and when in doubt with converse, a pair of dickies or khaki's always fits the bill.
-
@housekeys thanks bro! Yeah, I went with 9.5US which is my normal 70s size. I have been buying size 10s lately, but 9.5s in these fit very nicely - seem to have a bit more width than standard 70s, and my small toe doesn't seem to hit the toecap like usually.
@jordanscollected - right you are sir! Can never go wrong with some Navy Blue Dickies and some White Cons. I usually DGAF about indigo stains, but I might do my best to keep these cream ones kinda clean, so jeans might be out of the cards until I get stuck in the rain with them…
-
@Appfaff Awesome, great to know! Thanks for the quick reply too - was able to order a pair!
Went with black! I'm pretty rough on my shoes, so wasn't sure how that translucent upper would do over time on the natural color.
Ah, who am I kidding? I'll probably eventually get the natural color at some point too.
Thanks again!
-
Sure thing @housekeys ! I will say this, the rubber overlay is pretty stout, and the extra foxing height I believe will mean these can take a lickin..
-
I've been so close to buying both of these sets of denim sneakers. Subtle and different. bold and fun. I have none
-
I love Hokas @Giles - I have a pair I run in (on the rare occasion I actually run lol) and a pair I kinda chill in. I really like those hiking versions you have and they probably look awesome with a tapered jean! @Matt was rocking some Hokas during his Airstream adventure that looked just amazing with his UHRs. Bodega and a few other boutiques do some monochrome versions of their staple Bondi and others that are pretty cool and on trend now.
I finally threw the KJ 70s on with some jeans for more than a trial and I am happy to say, they are actually WAY less loud with jeans on, and I love the chunkier profile with my 777s. And @housekeys - they are 10x as comfortable as standard 70s, so you are in for a treat!
-
That is a GREAT look. Props.
@Madame Buttonfly has a bunch of Hoka's - she absolutely loves them….
Tomorrow, I will do a proper walk in mine.
Destination here.......

"No clue what to wear them with", he says.
@Appfaff, I believe you pulled them off rather cleanly! Real sharp my friend!
Great photos too (thanks for those, because I was already trying to think of what denim to wear with them).
Definitely look a lot more versatile than what I had assumed, perfect!
@jordanscollected Yeah, I haven't been able to pull the trigger on a pair of denim sneakers. I wear enough denim as it is, don't think I can pull it off. But the asics look spot on!

I didn't get the ones from Africa but I did find these… I have been trying to find these in my size FOREVER.

How did they work out G?
I realized life and work is pulling me to the other side of town, so I cancelled my gym membership… I have a couple GoRuck bags and a garage full of weights, so figured I may try the rucking thing.. and these seemed ideal for that!

Super lightweight. They were amazingly comfy from the get-go. Traction is good, not 100% sure how much ankle support they give, but I did have a major tumble (my fault entirely, I stepped on a very very wet slippery angled slate slab) and no issue with my ankles. It was not a particularly long walk maybe 7 miles but a lot of vertical and a lot of very rough stuff.
I have found myself wearing them all day at home, something I would never consider in my traditional walking boots….
