The Iron Heart 20th Anniversary Party

It’s fine. He’s both of our marriage mulligans so someone’s getting a pretty special vacation.
Father in laws on board. We’re going to try to book flights and hotel tonight. We need passports. I hope I don’t have to pay extra to have them expedited. Anyone know the current wait time on processing those?

We just got new ones for our kids a couple of months ago- only took about six weeks or so.

@Matt we just did expedited passports and they got them to us day-of, like 3 hours after we went into the office. We have an expedited passport center here in Denver (Aurora, technically: not sure where the closest one to you is–I think there may be one in El Paso). Expediting was a $60 premium and it was like $300 all-in for two passports.
You have to have an international trip within something like two weeks (say it is an important business trip) and you have to make an appointment. Definitely come with passport photos (can get those at Kinko's) and make sure you have all the requisite documentation. So we booked a flight to Mexico, got the wife's passport updated and the daughter's issued, and cancelled the fully-refundable flight.
There are third-party services, but I'd rather just save some money and go to the feds.
Even if you don't really need an expedited passport, I don't trust how slow everything can be with COVID and think it' worth just going to a passport agency and getting one day-of.

If Jason Momoa isn’t there, does that make him Jason… No-moa?

Fares have been coming down, over the past 3 - 4 weeks. I told myself, if I got a price within $100 of what I paid 3 years ago, I'd take it. Well, British Airways came through, again. $647/roundtrip, non-stop in both directions, checked bag included…..
The fare is $90 more than I paid last time. But, with the higher fuel prices, and inflation factored in, I'm likely getting equal value, if not better, than before.
With my flight and lodging in order, all I need is my rental car. I'm close to locking that up, as well.
For those in the US, start paying attention, the next few weeks will likely be the best time to book…

Well, perhaps I need to find a way to make this work. Worst case I’ll just hide in @Warner ’s luggage.

Greetings to All Confirmed and Would-Be/Hopeful Party-Goers!
We're already getting very excited about the party weekend in September. Sadly, we are not spoilt for choice with accommodation in Gosport, so we're urging everyone to book as early as possible please. The prices are already increasing as this is a popular time of year for weddings (and Iron Heart parties!)I did a little research this morning, here are some pointers:
**Gosport Travelodge - very easy walking distance to IHUKHQ, the rooms are new and I'm told quite nice for a small, budget hotel. The costs are surprisingly high, but that is probably because of the number of bookings already made for the Iron Heart party! Currently £100-120 for one night (Sat 10th) and £180-216 for 2 nights (Fri 9th and Sat 10th).
**Holiday Inn Express Gunwharf Quays (Portsmouth) - this hotel is a ferry ride away across the harbour in Portsmouth, but it is easy to get to IHUKHQ on foot (10 mins walk to ferry, 5 mins on ferry to Gosport, then 10 mins walk or short taxi ride to Cooperage Green) and the ferries run pretty frequently (every 15 mins) till around 11pm after which there is a late-night, smaller ferry service (we'll publish all these details nearer the date). Currently £156 for one night (Sat 10th) and £123 for 2 nights (Fri 9th and Sat 10th) - YES, considerably cheaper for 2 nights, must be some sort of weekend deal.
**Old Lodge Hotel, Gosport - around 1.5 miles away, so a short taxi ride or a good walk, nice location in Alverstoke (the "posh" part of Gosport) but no idea what it's like inside. Currently not giving a price for one night, showing £268 for 2 nights (Fri 9th and Sat 10th) but this hotel is on several booking websites, so may get lower price by shopping around.
**Premier Inn, Gosport - this is a couple of miles up the main road, a 5-10 minute taxi ride from IHUKHQ. Currently £106 for one night (Sat 10th) and £182 for 2 nights (Fri 9th and Sat 10th).
There are also a couple of nice looking places to rent on AirBnB.
