Giles and Paula's Great Retirement Adventure
-
Congratulations Giles and Paula! A beautiful boat and I know you will get tremendous joy from her.
-
This all sounds great. We're currently drinking a toast to the future "Far Call ". Or Tender for Far Call.
-
Sorry… you and @Madame Buttonfly will be skippering …
-
…@Giles Renaming a boat consists of six parts: 1) removing every trace of the old name, 2) performing a purging ceremony, 3) performing a renaming ceremony, 4) making a sacrifice, 5) appeasing the four wind gods, and 6) toasting to the new name.
...I kinda like 'Pilgrim' to be honest. ::) Looks Great!

Me, too
I think our latest decision is to live with everything as is (including name) until we've actually learnt how to drive her, had a few adventures and assessed what (if anything) we'd like to change. Repairs and possible upgrades (for example, new upholstery would be lovely) can be discussed and agreed towards the end of the year, by which time we should know if we want to keep Pilgrim for the longer term, or save money towards a bigger boat ???
We're both silly excited, thanks again for all your good wishes

John Wayne might have liked the name Pilgrim

Today is the largest storm to hit England since 1987. I popped down to the Marina to discuss a berth for Pilgrim. JESUS, there was so much damage being done to boats. The wind is currently gusting 50knots in the harbour…..
Boats are not supposed to lean like this when berthed....
Shit photo, but Portsmouth is getting slammed

Yes it is. The university is closed because of the danger of wind. Apparently parts of roofs of university buildings have already started blowing off. Fingers crossed for safety!

WOW
-
…you're absolutely welcome @Madame Buttonfly!
…the weather certainly looks foreboding, you'll be learning to find the calm side of land as often as you can. :o

I just hope the non-slip coasters I ordered arrive soon - don't want my first gin and tonic on board getting spilt!
-
No sippy cups?
So happy for y’all—truly heartwarming to see.
-
…@Madame Buttonfly Gimbal cup holders my dear! I'd bet the Pilgrim is already equipped with this maritime invention.
