IH-777S-142 - 14oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Tapered Jeans - Indigo
-
Had my 777's for over a year now and still haven't gotten the stretch that I'd hoped to get. I've stayed the same weight but they are just still super tight. Bought a 30" hoping they'd stretch to a 31" but no luck yet. Any recommendations?
I had to give up with them. Just wasn’t going to work. Never loosened up. Great denim, just not the cut for me. Switched to 555 for the more roomier and higher top block.

I’d be curious what shop gave that advice.
I had the same advice when I was new to selvedge and raw denim. The shop was Rivet & Hide. I found a pair I felt really comfortable in but they talked me out of it and very firmly advised me to get a smaller size. I shouldn’t have listened to them. The jeans never stretched like they said they would and it ended up being a waste of my money. I learned my lesson but I’m still a little bitter about it!
I've worn raw denim for over a decade, but this was my first pair of IH jeans. I went as far as sending the IH sales rep a video of me in them to get his thoughts. I don't really feel comfortable saying who it was as I'm sure he was just trying to be helpful. Yeah I've come to the conclusion that these just aren't going to work. I just grabbed 2 pairs from another brand that I know works for me and hope to get back to IH sooner or later. Thanks for all the advice, it's been much appreciated.

Hey y'all! I've owned a pair of 777 in the 21oz denim for the past few years, and want to pick up a pair in this 14oz denim. Just feeling a little caught between sizes, since a lot of people here are saying this 14oz denim doesn't stretch as much as the 21oz.
Only issue I have with my 21oz pair is when I sit down and stand back up (especially in the car,) they get pulled down a bit in the back. I figure it's my own fault for wearing them so slim in the top block and thigh. They fit great when I'm standing/walking, like a glove! But they are certainly worn quite slim. I don't know if I'm on the right track by considering one size larger, or if the bit of extra room everywhere will just exacerbate this problem I have. Thanks!

I’d say the problem is the cut, not sizing. The rise on the 777 is the lowest of IH cuts.
Sizing up will give you a slightly higher rise, so it may work, Alternatively you could try the 555 which is both slim in the the thigh, tapered, but has a higher rise.

I had that problem years ago with that 777 25oz hanging down… when they first drop
Stop wearing the 777.
When back to them, this time I size up..
Am ok with, not bother if they lose on the legs..

Thanks so much for the quick replies! I did suspect the culprit was the lower rise, but "10/14" has been all I've known for decades Unfortunately, I'm built like Hank Hill, so any time I've tried a cut even hinting at "mid-rise" or larger, has resulted in diaper butt. I'll go with a size up in the 14oz and see how they fare!

@replus if you have the chance to try the 555 on then do, but a sized up 777 sounds good. Best of luck, and let us know how u get on.
Oh, the 555's knee measurement would be cutting it really close for comfort! Otherwise, I'd totally give it a shot. Unfortunately, no local retailers. I'll think it over & get in touch w/ IH customer service once there's a restock!

Is the restock still expected for June?
-
@rheubanks I would say more likely July based on the latest update but with all production estimates there can be wiggle room either way

Hi everybody , I am new in the IH community and want to introduce myself. I am a 61 year old male living in The Netherlands. Still feel like a 25 year old though despite the guy in the mirror telling me different ! I am rather slim hence I wanted to give the 777S 142 a goafter having read about the different blocks of IH. I have been a raw adapt since many decades and “my” jeans has always been the Lee 101S in dry. I know, I know 13.75oz is nothing vs what You guys use to wear but I will give the heavier denim a try via the 14oz and take it from there
Now I have bought a 777S 142 and the fit is fine but I would like to have a little more room along the upper legs.
Waist in size 33 is fine for me and also the taper (hem) is o.k. But I find the denim a little tight atound my upper legs.
Now I have read that there is not much stretch to be expected from this fabric but I want to know if the 14oz will get a bit more “easy” on the upper legs by wearing them for a week or so. I already gave them a soak in a bath tub with handwarm water and vinegar in order to have the final hemming length clear. I had them hemmed here in Amsterdam with a Union Special machine. So cool to see these old machines doing the job. ( and Youri the tailor is a super guy as well)
Please let me know what I can expect about “give” in these jeans .
Thanks a lot ! -
Picked up a pair at SENY recently. Wife and I will be moving somewhere quite a bit more humid in ~6 months, and I found 25 oz denim rather unpleasantly sweaty while visiting, so bought something much lighter.
A sharp new pair of jeans really pairs well with my color 2 wing tip Aldens. I definitely new yellow shirting to go with my Phin /Ebbets Ukraine colors cap.

@Alex, any updates on the ETA for these?
-
Showing September now, sorry.
Thanks, Alex. I saw that Self Edge still has my size in stock, so I might go that route.

I've been putting a lot of wear into these lately and they are starting to come alive, definitely a fan of the 14oz denim and excited to see where they go.

Is there an update on when these will be restocked?

@rheubanks Last we heard they are still on schedule for this month, but could very well slip into early next month
