How are people storing them?
When I have my life together, they're folded in half on a sturdy hangar in my closet… in practice, they spend most of their time piled on the furniture in my bedroom. Doesn't seem to hurt them none.
@Kasi did that actually work? Never heard of 'beach fades' before. I live near the ocean at the moment… could be worth a shot

As Giles said it not…
I didn’t bother again it was an experiment at the time..
Ever since then, I learn to wear the shit out of Jeans…
Give them hell. That’s what Iron Heart stubborn jeans takes a beating

Personally, I wait as long as possible before the first wash (unless they are raw, then I will wash/soak them before wearing), but what dictates when they get washed is when they look or smell dirty, not some fucked up notion of time perpetrated by the marketing department at XYZ jeans Co…...

How long before they turn into sweat pants

Depends how hard you wear them….
I sit at a desk all day. Sometimes I walk downstairs for snacks or lunch.

I mean I wear them all day every day. It's just that I'm a very sedentary person and I never exercise.
That's why my wish for these pants is that they become like sweatpants that I never have to wash. The ultimate lounge pant…Unrelated but yesterday I had a nightmare about them. I cut them by mistake with a weed wacker in two places. Scary stuff.
That should give you an idea of how much of my mind space is taken up worrying about these things.Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk

Two bits of advice:
1. Learn how to wash them
2. Wear the hell out of themSeriously, these aren't one of those jeans that have a over-inflated cost. They're expensive because they're seriously over-engineered. I think that the best looking pairs out there are worn by people who work hard in them. The sooner you start using them to do things like work in the garden, roof your house, etc., the sooner the fades come.
And I say this after years of being afraid to damage them just like you

@Jeanmoreau washing a lot will get you there eventually, but AFAIK these never get quite as soft as IH’s other denims. From what I’ve heard, the 21oz gets the comfiest, but I don’t know that firsthand.
That said, I would submit to you that a better long-term solution may be to adopt a more active lifestyle, if you are not disabled in a way that prevents you from doing so. In addition to the myriad health benefits of exercise, you will also get much better fade patterns if you wear them hard.

2 months of wear.
I'm debating in my head if I should order the 888 21s in a size down and abandon these for those.Pros:
These are super loose but somehow they stay up without a belt.
They don't look like skinny jeans.Cons:
They might be a little too loose and low, making the me like a slob.
There is a danger of plumbers crack if i sit down without hoisting them up before.Any thoughts.. should I try a non 888 fit?
