IH-888S-21od - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - OD'd

As a father of a daughter who also mocks my selfies, I feel you
That fit looks stellar. They'll loosen up fast where pressure is applied (i.e. the waist, the thigh) up until a point (fabric limit or application limit). I took a pair of 888S-SB from 30.5 to 32.5 but they won't go farther Dang pants got me cutting calories

Selfies are bad enough but selfies of new clothes that get posted to get other people's (strangers, no less!) opinions were a bridge too far.
I sure hope they don't stretch too much. Almost all of my jeans are too big in the waist which is why I've been shopping while cooped up at home.
@neph93 do these look snug enough per you advice? Think you were the guru who suggested that in the random question thread.

I think they look great now and they do look snug without looking tight. "Snug enough" is a value judgment however, and very much based on you, how they feel and your experience of fit. It is therefore impossible for me to judge. From your description and from the visuals I'd say you are good to go. A size down would quite probably be a challenge for you and may result in unwanted discomfort, and a heightened risk of blowout.
But be prepared for this pair to stretch meaningfully. The waist will loosen up considerably (1-2" depending on how they fit now), and the top block and thighs will also loosen noticeably.
If you look through this thread or do a forum search lot number you will notice people wear them in different ways and look great. If you feel like this pair will still make you happy a week or two down the line then commit to them, they'll still look great, just not like they do now.
EDIT: I just re-read your first post. Getting the top button done up is a good thing. Normally difficulties with that occurs because of the nature of the denim, not sizing issues. 21oz is not difficult like 25oz, and not being able to do up the top button because the waistband is too short would be too far in the wrong direction imho.
Tightness over the thigh and hips at the start sounds about right to be. It will dissipate with a few days wear. It should leave you with a contoured but comfortable fit.

Much obliged, especially given the inherently subjective nature of something like fit. I just find Japanese denim a little tough between sanforized, unsanforized, unsanforized but rinsed, etc. Really hard to know which combinations won't budge and which ones will stretch a lot. I guess I shouldn't be too concerned though - ill fitting jeans are what pushed me to go to my local shop Blue Owl in Seattle back in 2013 or 2014 which got me on the path. Never would've imagined I be reading forums and talking cut, color and fit with folks from around the world. Fun, fun hobby.

I love my pair. They get worn regularly but not as a main pair, just part of a rotation. I have about five or six jeans I wear regularly and they are one of them.
I also find the OD picks up and shows dirt and stains more than indigo denim, so they’ve been washed twice already. They will probably see more wear now as the temps rise as my XHS and UHR will have a rest throughout July and into August.

Well I finally caved and copped a pair. With these and the 14v2 pair I'm all set in the OD department.

Just one pair?!

Lol, well I do have a pair of 634-OB that were one of the earliest IH products I ever got. I’ve worn the hell out of them but ever since getting the 14v2 I fell in love with the 888 cut. Went with a tag 34 (like my 634) so I hope to get some decent stretch fairly quickly. They arrived today and I know what I’ll be wearing tomorrow…

Quick question.. wearing a 34 in the 888 21oz Indigo.. had them for about 2-3 weeks and the feel great. Should I go same size in OD 888? Looking to add another pair to my rotation so I'm not wearing the same pair every day of the week to my office. Thanks in advance!

Always go by measurements and not tag size. If your 888s feel great, measure them the IH way and look for those measurements on the 888s-OD measurement chart. The OD doesn't shrink at all so take that into account (not sure if you've washed the 888s).
You're gonna love the OD!

@Paul9221 is right, measurements are key rather than tagsize. However in this case the you are safe to order the same. The IH-888S-OD is exactly the same jean as the IH-888S, just overdyed. This means that the jeans shrink a little in the overflying, so the measurements often come up a little smaller, however they will also stretch out a little more and a little quicker.
So go with the same tagsize in the OD, but expect them to be a little tighter for the first wear. After that you’ll find they end up similar to your 888S.

So, about 18 months ago, I got a pair of 888-142OD and loved them.. sadly they never quite stretched to where I needed, and I have gotten a little larger, so while they looked fantastic, comfort and mobility were an issue.
Thankfully, Brock was in the opposite situation with a pair of 21oz ODs, so we initiated a good ol’ fashioned forum trade and I think it worked well for us both!
Crazy how much more room the 21oz version have in the same tagged size, snd should be perfect for me after a little more give.
I’ll be rocking them stacked and cuffed for a bit until some combs set and then send a pack off to IHUK for some hemming in a few Months.
I’ve been enjoying straight cuts lately, so a little less taper and a fuller thigh and higher rise fits well for me in these!
I apologize for the sloppy hem, I’ll have them cuffed next time I’m sure
