IH-777-UHR - Indigo UHR 21/23oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Tapered
-
After 7 days of wear i'm still a bit unsure about this one. After a soak and a machine wash the fit turned out to be comfortable & not too wide. The denim has softened up but it will take some more time to tame the beast. Also got some first fades, incredible how fast they seem to fade and how nice and hairy they are. I wore these yesterday on a sunny day with 23°C and they got really hot, def. not a summer pant! Glad it's cooling down so i can continue to wear em. I'm sure these will look & feel great once they are worn in (I'm really looking forward to the day). I'm not the patient guy - all in all i prefer the 21oz "out-of-the-box-comfort" but the UHR's are true piece of Iron Heart Art, really great craftsmanship! Thank's to @AdamJ for checking sizes and giving helpful advise!
Thanks for the info bud. I think you will Grow to Love these for their own reasons. They are so
Beautiful and well made. Plus once the fading starts in earnest, you might be hooked! -
@Matty123 Yeah - just gonna take some time, they still need to settle and find their place on my skinny arse - they‘re great pants though! Here‘s how they fit, i don’t think i could have gone a size smaller, would be too tight and uncomfortable, also because of the heftyness of the denim (and i think i want a second kid someday. ) …

@thomas01 thank you - actually i had to size down: my 777s 21 blk are tag size 32 and the UHR are tagged 31. but measurements on both are almost the same.

They look good now and will look bloody great. The truth is that UHR is seriously badass denim but it does require a different attitude to the other IH denims. The fit of all cuts seem funky and different at first as the loomstate factor means the shrinkage gives cuts that are subtly different to their sanforised iterations. In addition the nature of the denim means it creases, folds and hangs in strange ways.
All that passes with wear and what you end up with is something quite unique and beautiful. Hang in there.

Looks good so far, and I think you’re on the right track with wearing it for a few days and then giving it a hot soak (I’d go ahead and give it a hot wash actually just to be sure you get all the shrinkage out of them). After that, just wear the shit out of them and they’ll be awesome in no time.

When the words Denim and Hairy get used in the same sentence I get a big rush of dopamine [emoji38]

Hi guys, would you say to size up or down from the 555-01? Do they have an easier break in than the 25oz denim?
Thanks -
I sized down from my 555 and didn’t regret it.

ThanksThe break in on the UHR is easier than with the 25oz in my experience.
Sizing is hard to think about like that. The 777 and 555 are different cuts and the 21oz and UHR denims behave very differently. The waist of a pair of 21oz jeans will stretch an inch easily, probably more, from starting measurements where as the waist of a UHR pair would probably end up around the published measurements after shrinkage and subsequent stretch.
If you take published measurements of the 777-UHR, W33 as an example, my guess is you’d have around a 34.5” after shrinkage and a couple of weeks wear. The W33 555-01 would end up around 36”, possibly more if put under a lot of stress.
