IH-888-XHSib - 25oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Ind/blk

We have enough of this fabric to make another 300 somethings. We may rerun the 555 or the 888….
Perhaps a run of 666’s or 777’s?
No, wait. Did I say that out loud? That would be a bloodbath for my wallet. Never mind. Forget I said that.

Just finished a 20 minute cold soak in the tub. (I think the only thing that has ever taken a bath in there is jeans). Looks like the thigh shrank almost an inch which is great for me. That was my biggest concern with the sizing. I don’t normally soak my jeans because I like giant cuffs but these will need to be hemmed a little I think so wanted to get the shrink out. Included is a photo of them hanging. I use spreaders on the waist to keep them at the 36” waist. Couldn’t resist putting the Specials album in there too. I had been listening to it.

OK results of the hot(ish) soak:
Waist: a hair over 34"
Thigh: 13"
Inseam: 32.1"So there was some more shrink in there. Still stiff as hell. Although they're smaller, it's actually easier to move around in them. I think the shrinkage forced them to sit a bit higher which makes the legs more mobile.
Went to the auto show in Baltimore to get the kids out of the house and wore them there. Got in and out of a few cars. Still somewhat restrictive and not what I'd call "comfortable" but there's no shortcut to breaking them in so may as well get started.
Excited to see how these evolve. Although they seem awkward at first I can tell they fit and that they'll be old favorites for years to come.

Been wearing these non stop since Monday. I probably won't soak these for a while still, these are still unwashed. I know they would stretch to what I have now, which is nice, but still need to break in a lot more. About how long does 25oz take to get real comfy/broken in if wearing them everyday? Guessing a solid month or 1.5 months?
-
Probably about that. It took me well over 6 months to get my 666-XHS to anything close to what I’d call truly soft and comfy, but that was wearing them twice a week.
-
My wife just asked if I was sure these were made of denim and not cardboard.
-
Been a while since I wore the 25oz but I seem to remember it taking a few months to get soft and comfy

What’s the tag size on your pair?

Silly Wives. As men clearly like pain. After all… we are married

While I think that the denim is quite soft already, standard fare is a solid 60 wears for XHS to get super soft.
-
I know I’ve worn mine well over 60 days and while they are def softer than I thought, the phrase “super soft” does not ring true to me. That being said mike is probably tougher than I am

So true Matty. I have a question about these jeans for anyone out there. What causes that shiny surface on parts of the fabric? I’ve had it happen to other jeans before, but never this quick. It appeared on certain areas the first time I put them on. I quite like the look actually, just curious what cause it.

I think this is because the yarns are ring spun and this causes a smooth arrangement of the microscopic fibers of the yarns. The smoother the arrangement the shinier the surface appears.

I am sure you guys are all sick of me raving about how much I love these jeans. But, one more thing I really appreciate about these jeans is that that huge intersection of seams on the back yoke seems to not dig into my ass like on my other pairs. I haven't had a chance to measure the placement versus my 888-nt. But it seems to be over a half an inch higher for the same size, with relatively the same measurements over both pairs.
It really is a miracle. My tailbone is forever grateful.
I sent a message to the attention of Haraki-san via the Iron Heart Japan contact form thanking him for how great the new jeans are. I hope he either was conveyed the message or reads this, because I really appreciate how great these jeans are!

I’m not tired of it at all. Glad when a product I have has some real engagement. Usually it’s just crickets and then the outlet for the stuff I like.
-
Hopefully maybe soon I can post some proper fit pics. Selfies are pretty beat but it is all I can manage. I need to get a camera with one of those remote doodads. But it seems way too vain to buy a camera just to take pictures of clothes.
Edit: damn Neph I would be going apeshit.
-
I phone + time delay? It’s mostly what I do (I’m not a shining example of pics, though).
-
If you're in the market for a phone upgrade, consider the Galaxy Note 9- the pen functions as a remote. It's pretty damn cool. Camera quality is supposed to be very good, too.
-
@Chris that is a great idea! @tvenuto I am more of an android guy. I just like having a cheap phone because of my tendency to drop them from hundreds of feet or into water or both. They used to make us have intrinsically sound phones. But now they just tell us to not use them at work or when no one's looking.
