IH-888S-142 - 14oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
I've always wanted to own a pair of jeans that I never wash. This may be that pair. I like the idea of seeing every bit of living on them.
That is what I do with all my jeans. No wash except for initial wash to shrink and get the excess indigo out and I have to wash my work pants, which go about 3 months until the smell shows up before I do
I love fades. I just feel that color loss is to great with washing and I'm old and patient I wear SuperBlack to work. Indigo just doesn't last for me as work pants.

Cool stuff. Not washing is one of my core criteria to differentiate proper denimheads from the wannabes. Keep it up!

Wearing these out in 80* weather today and they feel heavier and HOTTER than my UHR.

I bought the 142 denim thinking it would be my 80-degree-and-above denim and the 16oz denim would be my 60-80 degree denim but it’s definitely the opposite. I love both denims but the 142 denim is definitely warmer than the 16oz Vintage denim.

@Graham @mpukas @Max Power Thanks for the nice comments! Glad I went with 33. Here is a couple pics of the jeans about 30 wears in, I’m going for 0 washes on this pair for as long as possible.

how is the stretch on these?
Thanks! Definitely some stretch, nowhere near as much as my 21oz OD.
I also like the J1 Chicago Low. Classy footwear.
Thanks buddy, good eye. Only problem with raw denim is I can’t break out my fav footwear until I’m positive they won’t turn blue.

I haven’t had much and it’s the most frustrating thing for me.

anyone have an insights as to how these fit versus the 633?

@riffblaster:

No personal insight but I’d imagine they fit quite differently. My understanding of the 633 is that it is the 634 with taper from the knee. In which case the top block on the 888 will be markedly different (much higher rise, wider over the hip), and the taper on the 888 starts well above the knee.

Did anyone give their denim an initial soak in water before wear?
I've been wearing my denim for about a month. I never gave them an initial soak. The denim isn't as stiff as it once was but I'm a bit impatient for them to loosen up even more. On one hand I'd kind of like to give them a soak so that they will loosen up. On the other hand I don't want to lose the heavy indigo on the surface of the denim.
Any thoughts?

Water alone won’t make the fabric any softer. In fact you may find it makes them crispy again. Movement, agitation, stretching, and twisting is what loosens the denim.
A wash in a machine with spin and tumble drying are short cuts to broken in jeans. They are also shorts cuts to early indigo loss, and possibly ugly marks. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Your best bet is to keep wearing them, as much as possible, for as many activities as possible.

Soaking them before wear is pointless, we have already one-washed them.
As Neph says, washing them will not make them softer
Washing them gently will cause very little indigo loss. Case in point, we beat the shit out of them in our one-wash. What causes indigo loss is abrasion, not washing. -
Whoops. I guess its time to soak em. 6 months of wear. I Really like this denim.
