IHWE-ALEX-BLK - 7" Black Tie Domain Toe Cap Boot
-
I have some red wing beckman in 11,5 D and they are my best fit. Got these in 12 and the half size is needed. I have space in the front. My left foot is a little bit longer than my right. The upper front part of my left big toe touches the upper part of the toe box. But nothing uncomfortable and it should be okay when the upper leather is broken in a little bit.
@rocket : thx mate.

Got one
Boom! Very nice indeed. How are finding the fit? And how are you getting on with your IHWE-5's?

@neph93 Hi!
The fit is OK, I thinkI usually use insoles, I have them in different thickness.
I have minor issues with my left feet, it is not the same as right feet. the right feet fits perfectly, but left feet has issues with the height of toe-box, the big toe touches the top of toe-box and it could hurt after long walk.
Looks like I will have to use the lightest insole that I have, or to use thous that were included to these boots.
Or might be I needed the 0.5 size bigger or in E width… will see, maybe all I need is to wear them for some time, since this feedback is based on 1 day of use... leather has some tendency to stretch and adapt to your feet.Unfortunately I didn't used my 5's build a lot, I have too many boots ::) and all require my attention...

Haha mate. Same thing for me. My left foot is a little bit longer than my right foot. And my left big toe touches the upper part of the toe box, too. Maybe the toebox of this model tends to be kind of narrow because of the second layer of leather in the toe area. The toebox of my redwing gts is higher, but I think length is the same. So for me it is not possible to slip my toes to the front because the height is low.

I have a question. If you buy really top notch dress shoes. The construction should be almost the same like the construction of top notch boots. But with dress shoes you wear quite thin dress socks. And with boots you should wear thicker boot socks. Why? If the construction is almost equal?

.:This is no straightforward answer, first of all you could wear dress shoes with thick socks and work boots with thin socks.
Secondly, work boots usually have different construction, like this wescos… of cause some work boots are done in Goodyear welt construction, but not all of them. Mainly dress shoes have Goodyear welt or Blake construction with some variations and some rear methods...
Then the workboots historically made for work, to be durable and protect the feet. Thick leather, thick and durable sole and etc. When dress shoes require thin fine leather, flexible sole, lightweight... and doesn't require that much protection. -
Sounds reasonable. Most of the time it´s sport socks for me.
I have changed the original insoles with some thin aftermarket insoles… now fits better.
I assume sport socks are thick?
If you had a problem with your big toe on left feet, then it should be even more tight there? -
Some summary for 3 days of wear.
I wear size 9.5D.
I still fit too tight in the toe box. My big toe under constant pressure and I feel pain at the end of the day.
I also see that my toe almost reached the end of the toe box, so no extra space. - I assume for a good fit you should always have some free space after your big toe?
This all with the most thinnest insoles and dress socks. Even when I put them on, the socks are gathering around the arch of the feet. So it is very tight fit.
Initially thought it might stretch a little, but now I think not that much to get a good fitting.
The fitting around heel is perfect.Need advice:
What could be better choice, 9.5E or 10D?
And what is the difference between them?
