I love that blue color. I was able to personally see TJ’s jacket in Gosport and the only thing comparable is that indigo IH horsehide vest that made an appearance at the party several years ago.
The only issue I had with the double helix jacket was that the length was pretty short.
endo were you able to import it into Germany without getting slammed by customs?

Good question DrPat , guess it was a desaster

HI Gents - Love the look of that jacket! I’m about to jump into the leather jacket world and really like the denim style versions by either Fine Creek, Y2 or Double Helix. I was curious about sizing though in a leather jacket. I’m a slim guy around 5’11” but weight 140. I typically wear an S in everything without it being snug, but I’ve never purchased a leather jacket before so I’m hoping to get your advice. I know leather doesn’t typically drape so something big can just look ill fitting. I took my measurements and they are
Chest: 36” around my body
Shoulder: 17” across
Back 22.5”
Sleeve: 24”
Waist: 32” around my bodyI measured a type 2 style waxed jacket I have from Freenote cloth that has a thin blanket lining. I like the fit of it, but that being said, it is waxed cotton, and not tight. I’m not sure how the fit would translate into leather. It’s measurements are:
Chest: 20”
Shoulder: 17.25”
Back: 23.5”
Waist: 18.5”The measurements seem to match up to a size 38, but maybe it would be too boxy in leather? I’m worried if I get the torso correct the sleeves and back will be too short?
Thanks for any helpful insights…unfortunately I don’t have access to a store to try these jackets on in.

@sweetlou
Check out all the sizing videos from TJ at The Shop Vancouver. He has so many videos about sizing on IG, Youtube and on his website.I'm 5'8, 165-170lbs. I wear a size M in most IH shirts/flannels. I have the Y'2 KB 140 in a size 38. I mostly wear just a tshirt or thin sweater underneath. It is a slim fitting jacket and the leather is stiff at first, but softens over time. It's also a shorter jacket that just hits me below the belt line.
I have a Double Helix Western Pioneer in a size 40. I would say that a size 40 is my true size. I can fit a hoodie underneath and find it easier to move around in. Mind you, the leather is super stiff on both jackets and takes time to break in.

@teddyjay Thanks Teddy…super helpful..appreciate the insights!

My Double Helix custom Type 3 arrived this week. Really happy with the fit, and break in doesn’t seem too bad. It’s a little lighter than my Y2 type 2.

@sweetlou great catch

Unexpected pickup while I was in Japan. I had an appointment with another jacket maker and got two jackets. But a few days later I was in a shop and saw this Double Helix Cossack that caught my eye; tea-core horse, coconut buttons and what particularly got me was a custom cotton corduroy lining. Fit is just slightly boxier than my other makers size 40, but not sure if I'd want to go super tight with horse.

I wonder if someone here has the "Chief" Grizzly Jacket from Double Helix !!??
I really dig this jacket and I think I need it -
@Daniel-San I believe @Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot has one...

@goosehd I believe so, too. I think I referenced Mr Burns‘ Gorilla vest at the time @Daniel-San
