@AdamC nah, the wind was fine, but the cycle lanes/traffic lights around Fareham and Cosham were a bit of a nightmare. Can probably knock at least 5 mins off that time if I can find a quicker way through those sections.
Ps. Not saying that @Alex or @AdamJ have suggested that you’re competitive or anything, but I was also wearing a 21oz type III and UHR bottoms.

I’ll throw another time in. The Sunday morning of the 20th Anniversary party I rode to the cooperage, paused the computer to hang out for a bit and buy a couple things, then caught the ferry back.

I’m always up for a bit of willy waving…

That's a long ride

I’d recently done Ride London, so was in (relatively) good shape considering it was a few months before my 50th birthday…
For the record, my Garmin time was 5h 51m!

Tragic events at the Tour of Switzerland the other day - not sure what can be done to make the descents safer without nullifying a significant element of the sport.
-
Unfortunately, nothing. Some will argue that organizers shouldn't put descents near finishes as it increases the likelihood riders will take more risks to try to win a stage..... In this case Mader wasn't even competing for the win. It's just not possible to eliminate descending as you have to go down if you go up. And organizers can't have every mountain stage be a single climb with a summit finish, which would remove any legitimate descent from the stage profile.

Anyone have a Canyon Speedmax? Been drooling over the CF SLX since Ironman Vichy and would love to be persuaded that they are horrible wastes of money.
-
@Nik absolutely horrible bike! Too much useful storage, too aero, too fast. Absolutely not worth it
I don’t own one but basically everyone around me. I rode one once and I fell in love. If I will commit to Triathlons or even Duathlons only, that’s the one for me to get. Value for money is great if you ask me.

What I feared

I have a Canyon MTB. Direct to consumer pricing makes them easily the best specced bikes at every price point. Only issues I've ever heard of someone having with a Canyon were with the newest Aeroad, and Canyon has since figured out solutions to those issues.

I’m kicking off my nth attempt at cycling to keep fit/healthy. We’ll see if I stick to it this time…
20 km at a very soft pace; hilly area; mostly paved, with approx 10% gravel or sandy terrain.
2 hours was my time…in my defense it was midday with 30 deg C and 92% relative humidity.IHTP—09 (the one with a white W)

Speaking of Canyon, Valteri Bottas (F1 pilot) rides one. This looks like a casual ride but he races.

@mclaincausey The sweat marks on the handlebar are a bit of a give away! I guess "casual anything" is not part of an F1 drivers DNA.
