I just wanted to quickly post but found myself reading through the full AI conversation. Priceless!

I recommend anyone interested in AI (and philosophy) to read Norbert Wiener‘s „Cybernetics: or, Control and Communication in the Animal and the Machine“ (1948). The guy was just ahead of his time, much like George Orwell with 1984.
It’s incredible what he was already imagining back then and kind of makes you smile about how everyone’s freaking out about AI now that it’s „accessible“.

It's early days, but I think it's safer to say that many jobs will change, rather than be replaced. Tech innovations in my industry have saved clients a huge amount of legal costs on rote tasks allowing us lawyers to spend more time doing what we are supposed to be doing - and which AI cannot replicate (yet?) - which is advising the client on the strength of their position.

Even in the artistic fields that some people seem to be most concerned about, I've used AI to come up with draft images which I've given to my tattoo guy as reference, e.g. for the main elements of a composition, but nothing the AI has thus far produced for me is anything I'd want on my body. But it allows me to get the ideas in my head into his head faster, so he can use his time to focus on creating something actually cool.
