IHM-39-OLV - Military Serge A2 Deck Jacket - Olive
First issued to US Navy sailors in the early 1960s, the A2 deck jacket was the natural successor to the iconic N1, utilising lighter-weight but equally functional materials. Its design incorporated the N1’s tried and tested features such as a heavy-duty zipper and hidden storm cuffs - but with a modified collar, hemline cinches and an added breast pocket for versatility. This Iron Heart take on a classic jacket remains very true to the original design, constructed with a tough 11oz military serge outer shell and a soft 100% wool lined interior. The lining extends all the way down the sleeves for maximum warmth and comfort during the colder months, whilst still ensuring a smooth feel when putting on and taking off the jacket.

@ARNC I found that these followed the sizing principle of a lot of the IHMs where you want to go down a size from your 'normal' shirt size. In my particular case I've lost some weight recently so found the XL to be the best fit, although I would still fit in the XXL without being overwhelmed by it.

I just received my A2 (in Whipcord) with similar measurements and I stuck to my regular IH jacket sizing. I wear a Large in UHF and Westerns so I ordered the Medium in the A2 and it is exactly what I was looking for. I also own a Medium N1 from Iron Heart and the A2 certainly has a bit more room for layering but still looks great over a tee shirt with perfect overall length and sleeve length. I am very happy with it so far! I will post pics and a review in the other thread in the next few days...it is a great all-around jacket and I find it more versatile than the N1 because it flies a bit more under the radar.
