Luggage Bags and Packs

I just ordered the Porter Tanker Case in sage from IH. Anticipated use is primarily as an organizer replacing a bulky Maxpedition MOLLE thing that I use inside my laptop ruck. I am excited to get my hands on their Tanker fabric; have listed after their rucks but thought they weren’t as business appropriate as my Rofmia.

@mclaincausey it is def a more casual fabric in that it is a little shiny, soft, and squishy. I havent owned a bag in it yet, but the wallet I have in it feels like tiny insulated flight jacket for my cards. I have been looking at that case as well, looking forward to your thoughts.

Picked up a Satchel & Page veg tan leather backpack recently. Cost an arm and a leg to get to the U.K. with the customs and VAT charges on top, but worth it. Beautiful leather, smart enough to take to the office, and a very well thought out design with the pocket and interior spaces. And the inside lining is all a very soft suede too. Wonderful piece for those that want a backpack that can do smart and casual.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing how it patinas. It's exceeded my expectations.

Carryology have a Facebook group for bag enthusiasts. If you think that you've got a problem, it's nothing compared to most of the posters there.

Carryology are releasing a collaboration with Matador on 23rd June. It's a trio of waterproof and foldable bags. It's a bit more minimalist than usual, but the complexity comes from the set of three.
There's a design article up on their website.

Just ordered Mrs Jerkules a Master-Piece Link backpack. She always steals my bag for work and it gets super annoying, sometimes she doesn’t empty my shit and heads off with my headphones or something. In my attempt to get her something “nice” (she’s awful at spending money on herself), I’ve made the mistake of buying her a better bag than the one I use, and now I’m jealous. Might start stealing it as payback.
I know next to nothing about packs and this kind of gear. Anyone have experience of this brand/backpack?

I've never checked out any Master-Piece in person but I know it's pretty highly regarded. Always great looking, this one being no exception! I dig the carabiner — reminds me of Epperson Mountaineering but a little more sophisticated.

@Graeme good lord they need an editor. That was the apotheosis of TLDR. “Odyssean epic?” You mean an odyssey?
I’m a bit intrigued by the concept but couldn’t make it through the ramblings of someone who enjoys hotboxing themselves with their own literary farts.

@mclaincausey there's a quote that I half recall from a Greek or Roman philosopher along the lines of, "Whatever writing is sweet is twice as sweet if half as long."
I think that's advice the Carryology guys needed to heed.
I was quite amused by the addition of a luggage passthrough on a pack that was designed to be a one (or 1.5) bag travel solution. But then again, I'm allergic to wheeled luggage so it's not something I'd ever use.

The Master-Piece stuff is very well made and there are lots of different options. Also, you can quite regularly pick various bits up on special, so worth keeping an eye out!

I love Master Piece and it seems fairly priced. I’ve not handled in person.
To update on my Rofmia Day Pack, the love affair only gets sweeter by the day. The Root Co AirPods case and attachment @Cutlasshound showed us and @Giles arranged for me to procure is so cool and convenient. Here you can also see the horsehide getting a nice patina:
I love the water bottle holders and how my Zojirushi fits. The 3 zip off the shoulder side access to that and both the main and exterior compartments is extremely thoughtful. In the exterior compartment there is also an internal pocket oriented for off the shoulder access.
I grabbed this little guy from IH and it works well for my internal organizer. The Day Pack has the perfect balance of minimalism and practicality but I find this item helps me have a modular organizational capability.
A shell, a battery and cable pouch, notebook, charger, and laptop round up my work bag load out. In EDC nerd heaven.

Might be my next bag MCL, what a great piece.

Very pleased to hear that the consensus on Master-Piece is positive, just hoping the wife likes it. I guess worse case, I’ll keep it and she can have my old bag lol.
@Cutlasshound the one I bought was massively reduced on SSENSE. With shipping was just north of £100, which seemed like a steal. Will see if I get hit with import charges.
-
@Anesthetist thanks. You can have them customize it if you like as well. For example they can add a luggage handle pass through or a fourth zipper.
I think a Hero hook or similar is a good accessory to have handy since it doesn’t have a flat bottom to sit on.

Update on the Bradley Mountain Wilder.
I love this bag!! I’ve been hiking with it all summer on day trips. Taken it to the Italian Alps and numerous fishing trips here in Colorado and Wyoming. I’ve began collecting patches from the places I’ve taken it and sewn them to the bag. It’s a gorgeous and rugged bag and I’ve been having a ton of fun putting it to work. Finally got it all sorted for use with my fly rod too!!

Is anyone owning a Filson dryden backpack? I'm considering getting one. How is your experience with it?
