-
Holy cow that’s grail level patina right there @louisbosco
Wish I could have seen it in person when we met in Singapore.
Looking forward to the next chance. -
@louisbosco absolutely insane mate love it Boss
-
@louisbosco I can’t believe how much it’s changed since September!
-
@weftyarn thanks! was a bit warm that day to wear it haha
-
@louisbosco what has caused such dramatic darkening around the collar? Sweat, sun exposure?
-
@T4920 just sweat really, pretty much unavoidable over here in a tropical climate where temperatures and humidity are high..
-
@louisbosco adds to the charm of the shirt! You're from Singapore, right?
-
@T4920 yeah singapore/ australia. lived in Perth for the past 10 years, moved back couple years ago..
-
@louisbosco I spent a year in Western Australia, one of my favourite parts of the world. Traveled from Perth to Darwin at a snail's pace, doing odd jobs in hospitality along the way as part of a working holiday visa.
My favourite spot was an abandoned mining town at the western end of the Nullarbor, about 200km from Kalgoorlie. Spent almost 6 months there, maintaining their grounds and entertaining miners and grey nomads in the bar, cherish the memories!

Western Australia, the best country in australia.. something about a great Aussie outback tour that always sounds amazing!!

Ride like devil boom

just sweat really
Can you bottle your sweat and sell it as a leather conditioner/patina accelerant? That's some amazing patina you've built up with it.
-
@EdH HAHAHAH gotta be sure I'm sweating me balls off.
-
So I caved in, and gave the Pale Rider a short cold soak. Don't expect @Autorotate level antics though. I will not sleep in it, or consider any other extreme follow up measures
The plan is to give it a Obenaufs leather oil treatment once almost dry, and wear it a bit while still moist.I hope for a small shrinkage (have room for that since I oversized), and a slightly more worn-in look and feel. Let's see what happens.
-
@Tobi antics is right! Wear your Pale Rider in health! It’s a great piece of gear.

Reporting back: More used look and feel with some more creases, and some very welcome tightening all over. What I did: short 10min cold soak, dried on towel-cushioned coat hanger. Worn it twice for ca. 2 hours each while still moist. When almost dry applied Obenauf's leather oil. Uneven application first very visible, but then disappeared. Very little darkening. Surprised how the leather sucks up the oil, used most of my (small) bottle and tried not to fully saturate. Some of the colour changes seen with others here would require a different leather conditioner and/or a LOT more applied multiple times. Will stop here for now and see what happens.
