@Oaktavia dude, you read my mind bro
We're in the same headspace. I plan on babying mine too and holding off on machine washing for as long as I can stand it. The only thing in my way (so to speak) is the 19oz CPO Sample I have been wearing religiously. I'm only at 17 wears with my SBG but do plan to wear it tomorrow.
-
@Oaktavia hell yeah. Well I completely understand the focus on the 19oz IB, that sucker is epic. Don't matter how long it takes, I'm enjoying seeing both evolve.

@WhiskeySandwich I own a very heavily worn and washed second hand IHSH-08 that I bought off the forum a few years ago. Basically, an earlier version of this shirt, as in same weight, super tight weave--except that my version is non-fade. So the color is still black, but the stiffness hasn't gone. Still a cardboard shirt! I'm wearing it right now.
-
@Lowlander photos please!
-
Sure, I can post a few tomorrow when there's daylight again.
-
@WhiskeySandwich @Oaktavia Some pics of my IHSH-08, which must be over ten years old...
It's a non-fade 16 oz black denim, though there is some light marbling on the back:
-
Because of the non-fade denim it's hard to see how hard this has been worn (though not by me), though there is clear fraying on the placket and cuffs:
-
And it's still as stiff as cardboard; it can practically stand on its own:
-
@Lowlander wow, that thing is holding up amazingly well for 10 years old. I can only imagine the fades if it were SBG after that long. After having worn this 361 for what...42 days nonstop, it's totally become comfortable even though it is still pretty rigid. It moves with me, as I'm sure yours does, but it does still look pretty rigid.
Now I need to air it out because it's starting to smell like fried chicken. Maybe time for another soapy soak soon.
-
@Lowlander amazing how well it takes the passing of time!
I would definitely buy such non-fading one if it’s ever re-released. Preferably in CPO cut. -
@WhiskeySandwich Yeah, it will amazing to see these SBG shirts 10 years down the line!
@Karol yes, it's impressive how well it holds up, but then it's Iron Heart of course, made to last!

how does this compare to a UHF in terms of warmth? same or warmer?
-
@bluemantra it's kinda apples to oranges. Remove the wind factor and I guess they're about the same? The UHF has that soft coziness and IMO this SBG is better as an outer layer. The 16oz is super dense and rigid and stops wind well. Our temps have been in the 40's and 50's (F) when the sun's down and I've been wearing both and still been toasty. I have the CPO but imagine the western works slightly better as a shirt and would be fine with a tee on a cool day, same as a UHF. I'd if that helps lol
-
I agree that the 361 is quite wind resistant, but as a insulation layer I would always pick the UHF.
-
@Oaktavia It's looking good bud! Getting that that light suedey fuzz to it and those cuffs are wearing nicely. :the_horns:
-
@WhiskeySandwich hell yeah dude. I have been wearing it to sleep lately and whenever I don't wear the 396. It's definitely a fast evo piece which makes it a great one to fade on the side of a main shirt.
