IHM-37-ODG - Oiled Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - Olive Drab Green
-
I don’t own any work shirts or UHFs (yet). I have the 364 Mechanics shirt in brown coming this week also in XL.
I basically look for shirts that have 19”+ ish shoulders, 23”+ ish pit to pit and 26”+ ish sleeves. They seem to be either XL or XXL.
-
@Brandrea ok.
I asked you this question because in my Western shirt I wear XL, and in this jacket I wear L.
I'm new to the IH sizing, and I try to gather informations.
Anyway, shirt and jacket fits you perfectly, cheers !
-
Yes, you seem to have sized it like most here would. I believe a lot of folks size down in the N1.
I like extra room for layering

New to forum and IH products in general. Bought my first trucker and jeans a few months back.
Just bought this jacket and was delivered yesterday. What a beast. This is a XL, for reference I wear a XXL 19oz left hand OD trucker (what originally drove me to IH). I’m a Texan but currently living in Scotland. Headed up to the highlands this weekend and this coat is perfect given the cold front that pushed through last night.

@tormentos beastly is a great way to describe it!
I’ve been wearing mine basically non stop here in Canada the last couple of weeks. I LOVE this jacket.
Only nitpick would be for a slightly larger interior pocket. It barely fits my phone. Other than that it’s a beauty and as Graham said … it’s like wearing a big hug.
-
@Brandrea @tormentos a big hug? Yep, that is how I feel in it waiting, half-awake, for the bus in the mornings when I go to the office. I was not expecting to use this jacket so much, but now it's a daily use. I would only like to have some primaloft in the sleeves.

Just picked up an XL at Self Edge SF and love it. I expected to be an L, given I wear XL in IH shirts and most have said to size down on the N1. But XL is a really nice fit -- a little big with a tee shirt but perfect with a long sleeve shirt or flannel.
Appreciate that IH chose not to line the sleeves with alpaca. The quilted satin lining is perfect -- less bulky and more comfortable. Do wish the interior pocket was a little bigger but still glad it's there.

@Graham Best (non-Jean) item so far for me from Iron Heart, Just LOVE this jacket quality and fit are just perfect, with thanks to Graham for giving a heads up, Very much appreciated :):);)

105cm chest, 98cm waist, 178cm height, size Large. I love the jacket overall in terms of warmth and style. With gloves I don't mind the long sleeves, although without, sometimes with my arms down, just my fingers poke out and it's a bit weird, or e.g. for a grocery trip it'll touch the handle of the basket. In terms of temperature regulation it's awesome with some woolen underlayers (such as the Pike Bros shirt). In Large I also have space for a thick jumper in stead of the shirt. Haven't tried 2 thick layers at the same time yet.
Edit: Without gloves, I find the ribbing doesn't really help keep the sleeves up in my case by riding on the sleeve, as it's quite flexible and/or I have rather small wrists. However with gloves I have no trouble, it looks great.
Edit2: when doing anything with my hands which requires lifting them, I do appreciate the sleeves not riding up. And arm movement generally is very comfortable.

Looks fantastic on you, congratulations!
I sort of land similarly on the sleeve length and I have what I consider to be very long arms.
Can’t live with them, can’t live without them
-
@Brandrea Many thanks, mighty kind of you! I would say you nailed the fit on yours! Your arms length seems to help too! My photos don't really show the extent of the ... full extent of the arms. But I'm happy that I'd rarely wear it without gloves. I get the motorcycling argument - if I stretch my arms forward, the length is perfect. The feel of having this on though is great, as is the freedom of movement!

@ontz I, happy to hear your enjoying it. Honestly have to say that this jacket and the Mtn Parka are just superb pieces of outerwear.

Can anyone advise me on possible shrinkage after first wash? Picked up this Jacket in Size S (black version) and it's a little tighter than I'd like ideally. Will it shrink at all after a first wash?
Thanks -
@Gimli They don't recommend washing them best as I can recall.
-
@jbjones85 No but I figure eventually you need to wash it in some capacity.
-
I like experimentation so I machine washed my indigo N1 on the wool setting and it shrank and marbled. I like it and have also now waxed it. Mine looks like it’s been worn for more than three years now. Don’t wash if you don’t want shrinking or are not willing to risk marbling.

Bummer - missed out on an M this year. Waiting patiently (already) for the next UK restock..... Love the collar in dark brown....

@Nik can you share some photos? Sounds very cool.
