White's Boots
-
My first pair of White's ordered through Baker's Boots in Eugene. Great folks!

@TelemarkTumalo those are sick man! I’m looking for a new pair of lace up boots. Been looking at whites, among others. How long was the build time?
-
@TelemarkTumalo really, really nice. Love that color

Thanks. I'm really digging these. This last fits my relatively high arches and narrow heels, very well.
The wait time was 9.5 months. I ordered through Baker's Boots in Eugene, OR and was told it would be ~ 16 weeks. Unfortunately, my initial order got confused with a another customer and they thought it had been filled already. Baker's determined what happened and resubmitted with an offer to change my order if I chose. I elected to change from the brown chromexcel to this #8 chromexcel. Very happy with this choice.
So, quite the wait with my method. A quicker option is to order direct from White's and peruse the offerings. Some of their boots in popular sizes ship quickly, but customizable options can take longer.
With that said, I'm glad that I waited. I'm very happy with the result!

@TelemarkTumalo thanks a ton! Very helpful info. I’m leaning towards either the 350 cutter or cruiser in Burgundy. Your color #8 is lovely though. Would love to put the mini lug sole on them.

@TelemarkTumalo nice! Also curious about lead time. I ordered a pair of stock cruisers from Bakers during BF, wondering how long it’ll take. I’m patient but ya know… not really

The 350 Cutter and Cruiser are both great looking boots. My Sherman's have the 1/2 sole with mini-lug. Interestingly, these soles feel much softer than the 430's on my Iron Rangers. Maybe only my perception, but feel softer and quieter.
-
@TelemarkTumalo they are much softer, I had them in MPs and they were really comfortable due to its softness. MP Sherman with cap toe with these soles are to me best looking White's
-
@TelemarkTumalo yup!! That’s the sole to get right there. That’s the 430 right?
I know what you mean about same soles feeling different. Not my lofgrens and my wescos have the same vibram 700 sole. But the lofgrens are much more slip resistant somehow.
-
A little more wear on my mp’s, starting to look better as they darken imo
-
@chucklando those are looking great. Is that natural chromexel?
Edit. Scratch that, saw your previous post

I ordered these smokejumpers last December. Had them about 2 months ago but haven’t been giving them much wear time yet but it’s time now! Feeling good and the robber sole is darn comfortable on hard surfaces.

Before and after clean and condition on the waxed flesh. Also added some pisgah laces.

Apparently East West Apparel in the UK stopped taking custom White's Boots orders... Does anyone know an alternative/a retailer that makes it possible to place a custom order to be sent to the EU (specifically: Germany) without having to pay an additional fortune in terms of added shipping fees and etc. since the prices of White's Boots have skyrocketed as it is?
-
...well, looks like I'll have to bite the bullet on the expensive customs and shipping fees and order directly from either White's or Baker's from now on. I asked around some online stores located in the EU that offer ready-to-buy White's boots, but none of them take custom orders - in case anyone else is interested.
-
@SKT nice! I’ve found that neutral Venetian shoe cream and Pecards both work well on CXL. It’s pretty robust leather and doesn’t really need a lot of treatment — I really only ever put anything on mine if I feel like I want it to look less scuffed up.
-
@popvulture thanks that’s good to know. These are the “cleanest” looking boots I own and such a stark contrast to my roughouts…Will take some getting used to
-
Yeah I feel ya. IMO they start to look best once they’re a bit beat up, so generally I just let mine stay that way most of the time, apart from the occasional itch to spiff em up.
