@pjroo33 thanks so much for the pics; I’m actually thinking the 44 looks a little better!! The 44 is a 2XL right? If so, I may just take a chance on the 2XL I found. The biggest issue is the store doesn’t offer refunds, so it’s got to be something I’m pretty sure of. BTW, how does the 44 wear over just a t-shirt?
I’ll get a photo of each with just a T-shirt when I have a chance. I honestly think the XL (42) will work as a warmer weather jacket, and the XXL (44) will be more appropriate for layering and colder weather. It really just depends on what you’d prefer. Really is a tough call!!

both look good to me, more than same than different
biggest differences i'm noticing are the sleeve and body length, but even those are minimal. I'd probably go for the XL if you could only keep one if it feels good in the shoulders, chest, and in the arm holes when you reach and stretch with a UHF in there. Know that my indigo version shrank a bit in the width, but has stretched back out to where it was when new in the areas where the buttons take tension. This could mean that the XL will have more of a chance to mold and fit to you and give a little based on my one data point, but understand the size up may be the safer / preferred choice for you. Can't go wrong here. -
I'd go for the xxl as well. I wish I'd sized up. Mine is a xxl but I should have gone xxxl.
Sizing up definitely gives you more options. I'm limited to T shirts or light weight shirts only. -

@Nostradamion I completely agree with @goosehd you would be better waiting for the re-stock. The most recent batch of lefty’s ran a little large too. For reference I wear UHF’s in a XXL and my XXL OD lefty fits me with an undershirt and a UHF or Kersey under it. If you wear an L or XL in iron heart shirts you’ll be swimming in a XXL OD lefty..
I admittedly don’t own any IH flannels (yet) but have some relatively thick ones that I wear from Outerknown. The posted pics all look great and seem to indicate that the XXL might work. I’m still mulling it over as the only thing that makes me nervous is the store doesn’t offer refunds. If they did, I would’ve ordered one by now.
-
@Nostradamion what size do you wear in the Outerknown blanket shirt? On the Outerknown site size guide it says I would be an XL, so if that’s the same for you, I guess the XXL lefty would be a good bet?
-
I think I’d agree. If I were forced to keep only one right now it would be the xxl and we are very similar in size.
-
@DeeDee85 Hey there. I wear a large in the Outerknown “Blanket Shirt” flannels. This leads me to believe that maybe the XL would be a better fit.
-
@Nostradamion I know you're pretty determined to get one of these jackets and I understand the want. It happens to all of us on one occasion or another.
There are a couple of ways to approach this:
- Wait until the XL comes in
- Purchase the XXL now and see if it will work for you. You may get lucky and it's exactly what you're looking for. If it doesn't you should be able to flip it on the secondary market. From my best guesstimate, you'll probably take a loss on it. How much I don't know and maybe someone else can chime in.
- Try to find one on the secondary market to satisfy your wants.
There has been a bit of conflicting advice on sizing and in my opinion, none wrong or right, as it all boils down to personal preference.
For me, the cost of the jacket is fairly expensive and I don't want to see you make a purchase that you're unhappy with.
Just my $.02

@goosehd Great assessment and succinct observations. I’m going to wait until the XL comes back in stock (which may be awhile) so I don’t end up losing a lot of money. Patience is difficult but in the end, I think waiting for the XL will be worth the wait. Thanks again for your feedback.

Hey everyone! This is my first real post here besides the newbie thread. Just got my 19 oz lefty OD. I was lurking for quite some time and this thread kept me sleepless until I bought the jacket. Now the lefty made me sign up here to share my love for this awesome piece
Cheers

@FlavourFade nice one mate, great score!

@FlavourFade welcome. Looks like you’ve made a good start. Love the idea of “the lefty made me do it”. I don’t think any IH type IIIs are actually cursed (but maybe @denim-dawg could have some fun with this idea in his next short film).

My passion for Iron Heart is not new but this jacket is really something special to me. I love that it has a slightly longer body than other Type III Jackets and that even new it already is so full of little spots where you can discover many different colours. I also like that it is not looking so "sterile" like a brandnew pair of jeans if you know what I mean? That makes it easier for me to pair it with my new 777s

Cheers! I think lefty will have us all do all sorts of things... haha

Hi, anyone that can help with sizing. What size are you in the IH heavy flannels (western or work cut) and what size are you in this jacket?

@Kaare please email the guys at IHUK: shop@ironheart.co.uk
They really are a great resource and can answer all of your questions.
