IHJ-100-BLU - Quilted Light Parka - Blue

@aboath i'd say i would wear it with a hoodie or a uhf underneath at around 5 degrees without freezing much... But this is just me i have worn it now with a 1600 underneath at around 10 degress and a bit rain, can't complain about anything...

I'd like to wear this jacket in the fall weather of Wyoming (temp range between 25F-50F rain or shine) wearing something like the 1700 underneath while walking the dog, running errands, etc. . Sounds like this parka might be perfect. Any other considerations or insights? Thanks @pechelman @Fades-for-future

@aboath , I used to live in CO for a while and would say this is a perfect outer-layer for most winter days for that climate with just a t-shirt or thermal under it. It would be reasonable to wear for bluebird skiing day too. Again, take note of the length of the garment as it could result in a few chilly drafts around the bottom hem, especially when sitting or bending over, if you're taller. This will definitely trap and retain more heat if you're active compared to the 14oz just due to it breathing a little less and being more windproof in comparison.

@aboath this jacket punches above its weight for sure. The temp range you are describing is perfect for this coat. It has plenty of wind resistance and heat retention, and the dual zipper makes it easy to open it up for some ventilation. you won't regret this jacket it's great. I wear my N1 vest over it when it gets real cold and extend the temp range too.

Walking home last night, very drunk but very, very warm over just an 11oz T. This jacket is awesome.
-
Indeed a perfect jacket to be drunk in! Cozy, light, sturdy. And you can cover behind that huge hood just in case…

Received immediate compliments on this jacket the other day in the office, and referred the complimentor to Iron Heart when she said she was looking for something like it for her husband. This parka may have created another recruit to the Iron Heart Army.

@EdH you may have to be careful what you post in future if you have a work colleague on the forum!

Love this thing. So lightweight, so warm, so versatile.. Underrated for sure.

@weftyarn Hear hear!

First hike in this and I’m amazed by how well it kept me warm while being so incredibly light.
-
Nooo that thought would never cross my mind. I’m not a vest guy. That doesn’t mean I’m not interested in seeing an attempt of yours
-
@pechelman i own this in black and it’s been my everyday jacket in this mild MN winter.
What’s been keeping you from wearing yours?
I have maybe 10 days with my parka and the rest I toss on the 100 and out the door.
It’s great down to 20f with a layer underneath and even colder if you are moving outside.
The hood could be a touch smaller, but other than that I sized this right and live in it.

I'm not really sure to be honest @jordanscollected
Maybe I have too many jackets. I also find the regular jersey hoodie much more comfortable to wear. I actually really like the big hood but wish it would relax a bit. Also maybe the way the sleeves and shoulders are cut at times I can feel it tugging down right through the shoulder seams, which is why I thought vest. It's a great jacket but it's just not making it into rotation how I thought it would with wanting a semi rain resistant outer layer for the many 40-50F days we have here like 6mo of the year.
