IHSH-340-OD - Ultra Heavy Flannel Classic Check Western Shirt - Red Overdyed Black

@pechelman @Jett129 there were also indigo overdyed flannels released sometime between 10 and 15 years ago. I can’t remember the number and I know I’ve seen them but a quick Google search doesn’t help.

Can someone please explain the purpose/benefit of an over dyed fabric/flannel? Why is desirable, or undesirable? I've never owned one before. Thanks in advance.
@stichdown-shell Overdying has traditionally done with indigo denim jeans and shirts. It gives you a unique color of denim that's different than a normal black and it adds another color to the fading process. Black -> dark blue -> light blue -> white.
For the flannels, the black should fade to a lighter color and slowly reveal the original design hidden underneath.
One benefit is that since overdying is done with a hot liquid, it removes all the shrinkage.
A disadvantage is the environmental impact. This depends on the specific dye that is used and how it's disposed. I don't know enough about either of these to be a judge of exactly harmful it is.

One thing that attracts me to IH UHF is the bright vibrant colors and unique patterns. While I do like the red stitching, the rest of it seems so......dark (duh). I'm going to ponder this one for a bit and see if there is space in my wardrobe for a darker shirt.

Every time I come to one of these threads and listen to the discussion, I keep thinking I need to order another one for variety.
Which I know I don’t but why am I still tempted? -
@DrPat Great explanation. Thank you. Makes sense and was helpful!

@Oaktavia I’m only resisting because I’d like to pick up my first Good art soon.
Gotta have some balance

pulled the trigger
those red stitching looks awesome, could not resist .. -
@Mizmazzle there are very few pics in that thread and the most current are 8 years old. Almost all pics are of poor quality and have poor lighting. I wouldn't use them judge potential evo of the new shirts.
Also, it's not clear how often they were worn and washed.

@Daniel-San heck yeah man glad you snagged one.
