Holy crap finished Fargo season 5. Only a couple of things I would change but what an amazing season. Some of my favorite characters yet.
-
Season 5 was a great ride. The cast was brilliant, in particular Jennifer Jason Leigh and Sam Spruell
-
This one is a bit dated but anyone watch the Netflix original, Dark?
If not, and you’re up for a dystopian, time traveling sci-fi… Holy. Shit. Look no further. -
We did it with subtitles. Dubbings definitely can be brutal, especially when a characters voice over is not a good match or when the voice over is monotone during an intense scene.
-
@flannel-slut With my Rock n Roll ears I watch everything with subtitles. The only time it sucks is when you’re watching stand up comedy and the subtitles display the punchline before the comedian says it.
-
@Jett129 Ha %100 this as well. We were watching a who dunnit a few years ago and the name of one of the main characters was revealed within the subtitles early on and killed the whole plot twist

Recommend Mr Bates vrs The Post Office which was on ITV here in the UK at the start of the year. I know a number of the lawyers involved in the actual case, and it was weird seeing one of them represented on screen - the actor captured a lot of his mannerisms quite well.
For those not in the UK, this show has kicked off a political firestorm as politicians fall over one another to show that they are doing something about a massive injustice that has been percolating away in the background for more than two decades. In essence, our Post Office had historic powers to make criminal charges and bring criminal prosecutions, and when it's new computer system started bugging out and imagining massive accounting shortfalls that didn't really exist it started prosecuting its franchisees rather than admit that there were any issues with its software. Something like an estimated 700 people were convicted of crimes that simply never happened, and the show charts the stories of many of them as they lost everything and fought back against the Post Office over the last 20 years or so.
Otherwise, Mrs H and I are back to Slow Horses, which we haven't watched since season 1. Almost done with season 2, damn this is a good show and Gary Oldman is just fantastic in everything.

@EdH I’m in the U.K. and have been following the case so I’ll definitely check that out! Those of you in the U.K. May remember the Shoreham air show crash a few years back. There is a new documentary about it which is super interesting! It’s on the same channel as the repair shop.
Few other things I’ve watched recently were 1883 which was amazing and I’ve just rewatched all the Detectorists which is just brilliant

Can't do anything with dubbed audio and also in the camp of watching everything with subtitles on as we tend to do a lot of shows with accents (e.g. bbc) or foreign languages. Also I find many shows/audio mastering to be done pretty poorly to pickup on speech.
+1000% on Dark @flannel-slut . Such a brilliantly written and planned show. We've been meaning to rewatch it to see how many things we missed going through the original viewing. More shows need to go in with knowing the ending and a set number of episodes, which, I'm assuming they did with how well everything was done.
@jiminstitches And Detectorists is a favorite. Something about that show is so peaceful, relaxing, and ultra deadpan funny. "No, this is a metal detector". There keep being rumors that a new season is coming but it's been a while since the last update. Because of that show also a fan of Johnny Flynn.
-
@pechelman dude you summed it up, it is just peaceful and charming. All the character development is great too. I suspect I will rewatch it many times, Mckenzie Crook is an incredible writer to make subtle comedy work like that. I hope they bring it back! Another comedy I rewatch often is Season 1 of Game On with Ben Chaplin & Samantha Janus, cracks me up every time

Sure do, travelled past the scene to visit my =aged mum in Brighton once a week before and after.............
-
@Giles Yeah it was very sad, I was on my way from Brighton to Worthing when it happened. I remember cycling past a month later and the crater from the impact was 20 foot deep!

Who’s gonna be watching Masters of the Air premiere this weekend?! I can’t wait!
-
@jiminstitches ill definitely give it a go. I enjoyed the other two series they did. Masters of the Air doesn’t look as good to me for some reason. Not sure what it is but the trailers haven’t really done it for me. I’ll definitely still check it out. Hopefully I’m wrong!
